I play this course quite a bit and the greens now are in ex cond. due to the lack of sun it does remain wet in certain areas. a really testing golf course for beginners or low handyicappers.

I have played the course several times. From tee to green it is posibly one of the best. However the condition of the greens is very poor. Some money invested in a decent green keeper would make this course one of the best in South Wales

I think this course could be one of the best courses in Wales, it has lots of potential but the condition is absolutely aweful. The greenstaff should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

We played this course in July. It brought out mixed feelings, some holes were tight and a good challenge, a couple of the par 4's were drivable, but position had to be considered. A big disapointment was the condition of the greens - very poor and patchy, improve these and you will find a good test of golf for all standards. The lack of a course planner made course management impossible playing it the first time.

Our group played the course in May 2004 and despite a friendly favourable welcome from the staff we found ourselves a little disapointed by the condition of the course and particularly the greens. The layout is good if somewhat congested in parts and there are some interesting and tight tee shots. In agreement with other reviews this course needs either a cash injection or a change in greenkeeping practices.

Our society played this course last October and although it is a nice course in a good setting, it could do with a little more looking after. One or two of the fairways had been let go a bit and some of the greens were a bit thin. I'm sure that the green keeper will have this sorted by the start of the season. Other wise a good and testing course.

Mountain Lakes was the 3rd of 4 courses our society played over the weeknd of 12th - 15th September. With a little bit of work and at little additional cost it has the potential to be a very nice course indeed. My main critisicms are that the fairways were covered with a good deal of cut grass (a better mower or a grass box would improve this). There were no yardage markers or course planners which make it difficult for visitors, especially on some of the blind holes. Although the front nine holes have 'next tee' signs the back nine do not yet. A more expensive improvement to make would be to ensure the water hazards/features do not end up bone dry (although I was thankful in some cases!). Water in some of these hazards would make it a very attractive and challenging course. Generally the course was very interesting as were some of the greens, which were all in good condition, but a little slow. Although the course is not too long it is a good test for all golfers. The clubhouse has a homely atmoshpere and we were made very welcome. The food and service was superb. I would certainly play the course again to see if any of the above improvements are taken into account.
