Good course for a public one, but not too challenging. In pretty good order, although greens were a bit slow. Good value for £16 with a county card. The clubhouse isn't much to write home about.
I am only 12 and have struggled to find a cheap enough course to play on, i have to say that this one was great value! I found it quite challenging, but there was always a chance of success. The pro shop is well stocked and i found the driving range a great place to practise. Staff were friendly at all times and tried to sort out any difficulties. It was a great day of golf!
As long as you have realistic expectations, Mowsbury will not let you down. As a muni, it rates quite highly. Built around one of the only hills in Bedford it has a reasonable challenge, combined with some water hazards. The only physical difficulty is the clay ground which can mean boggy conditions in the winter and rock hard in the summer. Played twilight for a fiver in April - very good value. Only downsides were kids roaming the course collecting balls, and a lack of standards from other golfers. One decided to play my ball since his was in the bunker! Reasonable driving range, shop and club house
Played this course last saturday and as all the other comments say it is a lovely course, The fact that the green fees are only £17 you wont find a better place to play in the area. The course is really well kept and the rough can be challenging, the sprinkler system had broken down so there were a few brown patches on the greens but they were very true. The only bad point for me was the lack of sand in the bunkers the sand looked really nice and soft but this was only the top of the surface and it meant you couldnt get right under the ball. The clubhouse was welcoming and we had a great meal in there afterwards. All in all a great place for a round.
Well located, reasonably priced, a challenging round of golf, decent range and friendly staff. You can't ask for more in your local course!! I would recommend this course to all players.
superb there is nothing else to say
This is a course that I play quite a bit as it's close and relatively cheap. I must just say that I played there yesterday and the greens were fab. I've played on other courses this year which have had terrible greens which I attributed to the weather this winter. Really well done to everyone.
This must be one of the best value for money courses in England. The condition of the course is excellent and it is very well designed, utilising the hill to its best advantage, two holes up and two holes down. This course cannot be beaten in terms of value for money.
A well kept course with some tricky holes, greens are always good no matter the weather, congrats to the grounds men.
The best public course i have played on, no snobs just good honest hard golf cheers, i will definetley be comming back.
Fantastic, well kept course, and superb value. Look out for hole 16!
Good course considering the fairly low greenfee (less than 10 pounds). Greens in good condition (June 1999).
