Played this course August 2009 with a fourball voucher won at my own club. Not the best course in the area, and would not have felt it was value for money if I had paid the £22 green fee. Unfortunately, it appears to have suffered more than most courses from the weather we have had recently, and GUR as prominent on most holes. The greens were however in good condition, but were lightning fast and I struggled to hold any approach shots due to the firmness of the greens. There was a scratch competition to be played the day after we played, so I think the greens had been cut to reflect that. There are one or two nice holes, the 18th is a nice finishing hole, and the short par 3 (15th i think) is nice to play. Some uninspiring holes, particularly on the front nine (9th, 6th, and the first four are very up and down). Only the second time I have played here in 7 years, may be another 7 years before I am back. Can post a good score if you are a straight hitter. Excellent shop and staff. Value for money based on standard green fees not my free 4ball voucher!
Played here in may 07 Nice course greens are being worked on which lets the course down a bit People were great there is some one that takes photos of your party teeing off which is a great touch and the photos are not bad priced food was very good good society day out Recommend bacon buttey
Played Newcastle United on Wednesday 21st March. When ringing up in the morning the pro told us there was a "light dusting of snow" and the course was on temporary greens. we decided to drive the 50 mile round trip and turned up to find there was no snow wat-so-ever!! we then proceeded to pay our green fees and stepped onto the first temp tee box. the course was in pretty good condition condidering the time of year and played pretty fairly. the winter greens remained in play (although the main greens were in superb condition and SHOULD have been brought into play as we continued our round)!!!! this was my biggest complaint about the days golf and to make things worse when we stepped off the 18th green we walked past the greenkeepers shed and low-and-behold there were several greenkeepers standing around doing nothing!!! (come on guys - do your job and get the course and in particular the greens sorted out)!!! apart from the above gripes i would like to return to the course in the summer when main tee's and green's are in play as the course was well laid out and had some challenging holes. worth a visit but only if the main greens are in play!!
My friends and I enjoyed a great days golf at this beautifully presented course, the greens were superb, and the members were very friendly. My favourite holes were the 12th, a dog leg left with a tricky drive over trees, 13th a long dog leg left, I laid up with my second shot for a birdie opportunity, and the 15th a great little par three guarded by two front bunkers and trouble behind. A must try course.
Why is the extra 'n' missing on the 14th hole's metals tee box sign?\r\n\r\nAlso the 5th has it's yardage incorrectly printed on the scorecard and the tee box sign, it should read 176 yards not 160 yards.\r\n\r\nCongratulations on winning the Ladies & Gentlemens Newcastle District Leagues.\r\n\r\nAlso congratulations on attaining 47,000 from the lottery funds.\r\nHere's hopping for a quick completion of the ladies and gents changing rooms.\r\n\r\nRegards\r\n\r\nMike
