Okehampton Golf Club

Played here after a long weekend at nearby Ashbury Golf Resort. It was an absolute bargain at £10 for people who have been at Ashbury. We were made to feel very welcome by both the staff and a few members who were milling about. The course was somewhat quirky, some might say bonkers, but in extremely good condition. I have no idea how you are supposed to stay on a fairway as nearly every hole was on a slope. The greens were fantastic. I loved it and will definitely go back.

We were made to feel very welcome in the pro shop and given as much info as possible about the course. Tricky shortish par 4's were the mainstay of this course so positioning and not distance were the most important thing. The 12th is an amazing 90 yard par 3 played down to a green with a river at the back of the green. You actually have to walk about 200 yards to get to the green. The 15th was another super par 3 played uphill. Good value for a course kept in nice condition.

A pleasant parkland course. Only a couple of challenging long pars but also a coupleof tight and tricky low pars. A wonderful bottom section with a classic drop number 12. Unusaually quite on all times I've played but I haven't had to suffer a weekend yet. Club facilities are a little basic but somewhat charming at the same time.
