Played Old Padeswood yesterday 10 March, greens in great condition for this time of the year. Shame the six new buckers are GUR, best two finishing holes on the same course anywhere in Wales. Will be bringing our society here in July. Can't wait.
We played the course at the beggining of march and for the time of year the greens were in excellent condition true and fast. The first hole is very difficult and then the next few holes are more friendly befor you get to the longer holes. Six new bunkers have been added this winter to go with the six put in last year and a load of new trees planted. A fair challenge with a very friendly welcome in the clubhouse and pros shop
I visited old padeswood for a round today only to be told that there were 18 temporary greens.Even though the price was reasonable the temps were absolutely shocking ,they looked just like a mud patch which was really disappointing as the proper greens looked fantastic. The course is long and challenging yet they are really boring holes with no character at all, their are new bunkers on some holes which look abandoned. My advice would be to think about another course to play in the winter,as the course when we played in the summer was a lot better.the welcome was really freindly as always but the clubhouse needs updating.
We played this course in the summer ,and although the greens were in good condition the course lacks imagination on many holes ,most holes are long and straight with no features on them .the 27 pound for the green fee seems quite expensive considering there are a lot better courses in the area,as for the18th being the feature hole I can't see it as the 16th is probably the best hole on the course .staff are freindly and the food and beer are really nice .not worth nearly 30 quid though
I found this course disappointing although excellent value at £15 which I was chargd rathr than the normal £27 for a round. The first 5 holes have character although with the exception of the 1st they do not pose a great challenge. The next 8 holes are perhaps some of the most boring and unimaginative holes that I have played. They are flat but even with that disadvantage a relatively small investment could surely have made them more of a challenge. The final 5 holes are a lot more interesting though the 18th in my opinion does not justify the rave reviews some have given it. The condtion of the fairways and greens was good for the time of year but sadly the deficiencies in the middle of the course mean these are forgotten in rating this course
I visited old padeswood in early october 2003 and had the pleasure of playing with a member who was rightly proud to show me around. The course was in excellent condition and the opening par 4 and the closing par 3 over a valley are great holes worthy of any course
OUR SOCIETY HAS PLAYED THIS COURSE EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS AND HAVE YET TO BE DISAPPOINTED.ACCESS IS GENERALLY VERY ACCESSABLE THROUGH MRS JONES WHO IS EXTREMELY ACCOMMODATING AS SECRETARY AND A WARM WELCOME IS ALWAYS ASSURED AT THE PRO SHOP.A LOVELY COURSE WITH VERY GOOD GREENS AND VARYING HOLES IT OFFERS A GOOD CHALLENGE TO ALL LEVELS OF PLAYERS WITHOUT BECOMING TOO DIFFICULT.SIGNATURE HOLE POSSIBLY IS THE 18TH A PAR 3 THAT IS ALL CARRY TO THE GREEN WITH A VALLEY WAITING BELOW IF YOU FAIL TO REACH THE GREEN.FRIENDLY STAFF WITH MEALS AVAILABLE IN THE BAR AREA.
