1 review of Phuket Country Club
I was lucky enough to have played over 10 rounds of this course during Oct 2000. I found the course magnificent and tough, only managing to play to my handicap once (12). Like most courses in Thailand they recognise the problems of dehydration and tiredness (immagine playing golf in a sauna) and have "watering holes" every 2/3 holes where you can rest and top up with cold water or an isotonic drink. The course to me seemed to play long, with long tee shots needed to get down the fairways (no bounce and run!) and then often long shots to raised greens that you have to hit! There are too many notable holes to mention, but I guess the trade mark hole is the par 5 10th that either requires the player to play around a large lake with two carefully placed shots before going for the green, or for the larger hitter there is the tiger line to the green which requires an accurate 240 + carry to reach dry land. As usual caddies are mandatory and work hard to earn their cut of the caddie fee, so don't forget to tip. After playing this course once I did not feel the need to play the other courses which were either more expensive or didn't seem as good as Phuket Country Club. I can't wait to go back sometime!
