Played here in the middle of November. Superb practice facilities with unlimited free balls included in the green fee. ( we paid 50 euros for a twilight tee time of 12.30 ) Course was in very good condition although a couple of greens were being top dressed. Enjoyed the layout and thought a couple of the newer holes were excellent ( particularly the stroke index 1). Can't really see what the previous complaints were based on. An enjoyable, quality course with helpful staff. Would love to return. Also fantastic if anyones into birdwatching.
Thurs May 30 Played Corks & Olives.new nine should not have been open.Tees were not ready and we played from in front of the Ladies. This nine was not exciting with the old par 5(6th) now opening hole but has been cut into a par 4 and a par 3 folllowed by 4 boring new holes and then the old 7-9. These changes together with only being allowed to use buggies on paths means we won't be using this course again.
Played this course on 24/05/07 and, as reports prior say, very dissapointing new holes mirrored with outstanding mature holes. Would have loved to have played this as it was originally set out. The nine old holes in the pines would have been a great front 9. As it stands one of the most memorable rounds i have played for 2 very different reasons. Still worth a play, but ignore the new holes.
When we arrived, the clubhouse and immediate facilities were just perfect. The clubhouse is slightly elevated and has a wonderfully dominating position over the wavy 18th green. What surprised us when we checked in was that the course was now a 27 hole course, surprised as even the most recent edition of the free local Algarve Golf course magazine did not show this. But what was even more displeasing was that they mixed two of the 9s up, which meant that our first nine was two mature holes, followed by four of the worst low budget holes that I have ever played anywhere, and then back to three mature holes. These four low budget holes were not just clumpy, uneven, sandy, exposed and uninspiring, but large portions of the fairway were marked GUR. The greens, though huge, true and undulating, showed their young age too. By the time we started to play the back nine, we could not help feeling disappointed, so although the these back holes were established, tricky, water lined and had nice manicured views, the enjoyment and appetite had dissipated. Incidentally, use one club less that you think to the 17th island green. Positives: Good facilities, and clubhouse. Negatives: 9 (of 27) very young holes. Recommendation: Sadly, a Miss.
I played here on 22/09/2004. It's an interesting course, with helpful staff and a superb clubhouse/restaurant. Hire a buggy if it's very hot, as the first nine are quite strenuous. The course was in excellent condition and well marked. Play this before it becomes as expensive as the other courses in this area. One good feature was the Ranger who constantly travelled the course ensuring that everyone kept up with play.
Lovely course that is a good way to start a golf holiday as it is not too difficult if you can hit straight. Not long and the green fee comes with a buggy and free range balls. But beware....next year it is members only so get in quick if you want to play it!
