Playgolf Northwick Park

I went to Northwick Park with a pal having booked two rounds for both of us in advance. Whilst there were quite a few people on the very good practice range, there were none on the course at 10am. The cost per round of nine holes during the week is currently just £10 and there are only two par fours, the rest being threes. However, it is in good condition and each green has two flags to enable different shots to be played on a successive round. We played the more difficult positions on the subsequent round. The greens were very nice, albeit slow, and the course has a nicely manicured appearance. We did enjoy the experience and if you want to practice your accuracy with some interesting target golf, it was good fun.

Northwick Park has had the clever idea of copying nine holes on famous golf courses. Unfortunately, though the holes themselves are quite nice, you can't escape the fact that you're not in Georgia or Scotland but an unattractive, built-up area of north London. The layout doesn't help either, weaving its way tightly past a baseball cage, the driving range and some overlooking buildings. Still it's only £15 and some of the holes are good fun, especially the recently added 7th and 9th 'Augusta' holes over water. So go expecting 'theme park golf' and you probably won't be disappointed. Not sure I would visit often though.
