the course isnt very good. there are a couple of interesting holes but the majority are unimaginative. the bunkers are terrible, mud not sand pick them out and play off prefered lies. there are plenty better municiples around the area and at £13.00, not good value for money.
We I think I must have defintely seen the course at its worst as they were only just keeping it open when I played it yesterday as it was very waterlogged everywhere. I think there were about 6 winter greens which were rubbish but thats standard i suppose and the tees were pretty similar. However, I really wish I had played it a couple of months ago as it has some very nice holes and would be a reasonable challenge to most golfers. I will definitely play it next summer as for a muni it was remarkably well kept. The driving range is very good as is the pro shop. We didn't go into the club house as they are building another one at the mo' which looks like it willbe very nice also.
The guy who went round in 2001 must have had his eyes shut. I'll agree the bunkers are not the best, but you'll find it difficult to find better greens and fairways at any course (Muni or private). The rough is now well under control - unless you miss them by a mile - and the bunkers are starting to improve but still require work. As for Duxbury being better, that wasn't the comment from a large group of recent visitors
nice course very popular make sure you book well in advanced very good for mid handicappers challenging fairways and nice greens the direct phone number is 01204 495421 its easier than being redirected all the time.
i have been playing regent park for the last 8 month's now and wilst i've been playing i have seen some great improvement's to the course as well as the added bonus of the new driving range 'which must be one of the best around any golfers out there who have not yet played this course are missing a realy nice and in some parts a very demanding course
I've played here 4 times since mid July, and the condition of the fairways and greens is as good now as it was back in the summer. The second hole is probably the best feature, with a tough tee shot (over a small stream), then a short iron into a small, excellently maintained green. The overall condition of this course for this time of year is much superior to Duxbury, even though the holes are probably not as testing. Regent Park is excellent value for money, and well worth a visit.
JULY 2001 - I played this course a few years ago and it was a tough but enjoyable round. The course wasn't in great nick, but understandable for a muni. Now, I'm afraid the only word to describe the condition of Regents park is appalling! All the greens & bunkers in view of the clubhouse are excellent & well maintained, but away from view it's a different story. Bunkers full of gravel & weeds, swampy holes everywhere, rough not tended to at all. Even the club shop has been reduced to a bag of tees and a bucket of balls. With Duxbury Park 30mins away.. do yourself a favour. Avoid at all costs.
Good course, and very clean throughout, along with good managment and a challenging and sceneric course with some difficult par 4's. Overall great vaue for money and a course worth playing. Graham
