I played on 21st February. The midweek deal at £15 included a meal which was reduced to £10 for golf alone. Tees were well forward but I was able to find places to tee off beside the proper tees giving a better idea of the course which from the whites is par 70 but SSS 72. The layout is unusual with a 3 hole loop to finish with the 15th green by the clubhouse. Though generally flat there are enough elevation changes to provide interest with greens generally well protected. 3,6,13,14,16 are all good par4's with 11 the best hole on the course. Greens had been hollow tined but were far from unplayable. Fairways generally wide so room to open your shoulders. This is a much better course than nearby Abergele which I played the day before and would make a good society venue.
I have been visiting Rhuddlan Golf Club for over twenty years and have yet to be disappointed. There have been changes to the course which has improved the challenge without making it unplayable for the high handicappers. Dispite changes in personel there is always a warm, friendly welcome from the secretary, pro shop, bar & catering staff as well as the members. The standard of catering has to be experienced. There are many good courses out there but I believe that for individual or society golf, Rhuddlan are setting the standard. Highly recommended.
This is a great society course with wide fairways and very friendly people. Food is very good and served with a smile. I have played here twice this year - in March the greens were a bit iffy but in June the whole course was in excellent condition.
This course is a good challenge for all abilities. Very well laid out holes. Greens were undulating, same pace and true which is remarkable and drainage is brilliant considering the inclemant weather so well done to the greens staff. Good positioning of bunkers and hazards, fairways well designed and clear markers regarding distances both on the fairway and parallel trees. Clubhouse is very welcoming in that I felt at home not a visitor, Staff are brilliant and very helpful including the Pro shop. as you wind your way round you also get some great views towards snowdonia.
The course was imaculate when I played there. I played on the captains day. It was sunny and the fairways and greens where in fantastic condition. Hats off too the greenkeeper and his staff. The food was lovely and the wine flowed freely.A great day was had.
One of my favourite courses in North Wales, I cant define why this is the case, a thouroghly enjoyable course which is always in good nick, Give it a go
