played the course august bank holiday it was in first class condition and is a good test of golf for any handicap i recommend staying at the course accomodation which is excellent as is the food and hospitality our society has already planned for next year we can see this as becoming an annual jolly boys outing
Just been on a 3 day golf break staying at the on-course appartments. Accomodation was great value, spacious and clean. Fortunate to get two days great weather for golf in October. The course was superb! As a high handicapper, I found the course challenging but fair. Presentation of the course was excellent, and I wish all courses had greens as good as here. Plenty of meandering streams run through the course with bunkers popping up all over the place. Everything about the course was set up to make the golf a great experience. Off course, the meals were very good value - the only negative of this golf club would be the very quite bar after dusk, perhaps not ideal for a large group of golfers looking for a lively bar. I'll definitely be coming back!
Played as a Society staying in the on-course accommodation. We were made very welcome, the rooms were excellent value for money as were the meals provided. The course was a fair test although the front nine - over the road - was a little mundane except for the very narrow fairways. The back nine was far more interesting with changes in direction and elevation on almost all of the holes. Our only complaint was the course guide which was as much use as a chocolate fireguard but at least it was free. All in all a good course and excellent value for money.
Played the course with my father who is a member. The course is very nicely presented with excellent tees, hole boards etc. The back nine are over the road and are fine but maybe a little dull. Very flat and loads of mounds to give the land some definition. The back nine is less open , the last four holes are very intertesting and attractive. The rough was a big problem, not long but heavy, in winter with lots of leaves and low sun it was very hard to find a ball that might only be a yard or two off the fairway, maybe there could be a first cut.Overall impression is that it is a nice if not great course but it is maintained very well with good attention to detail on the presentation.
Played this course today as a visitor, unfortunately only had time for the back nine. What a lovely course this is, interesting with plenty of challenging shots to find. Welcome was friendly and beer was good in the bar
Having now been a member for 18 months I feel very much at home at this very friendly and welcoming club. The course is deceptivly challenging, the front nine open enough to allow the odd wayward tee shot but still able to catch the over confident golfer out, the back nine,a little more mature than the front is tight, which creates a round of two very differing halfs. Good luck to any visitor!
