Played the course (6/11/11), and even for this time of year the course was in great conditions, the fairways had no sign of drainage problems, that would be present in many of the local courses this time of year. The greens were great, and suprisingly quick for winter, can only imagine how fast they'd be in summer. The green staff were out early clearing the greens of leaves etc, not something you see on many courses nowadays when money is making losts of courses carry out cutbacks. The members were very welcoming, the venue and clubhouse fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, and will return as often as possible.
Played Tuesday 12 October on a sunny day, course was immaculate as usual, as it has been on my previous 2 times. The greens were the best I played on all week a credit to the greens staff. Will be back yet again in the near future.
played 14th may 2010, nice parkland course with nice fast greens, not overly long but must keep the ball straight or theres a fair bit of trouble, back 9 is were the course really gets going, very tough finish from 13 in, club house is nice ,with a trophy cabinet to die for, most of the boys scored pretty well here 1 lad who had struggled all week on the links courses shot 45 points playing of 13
Played the course on a " 2 for 1" offer for £ 18 each. Overall the Course was in good condition on the day that we played. The course isn't long at all and there is a lot of up and down holes which was boring towards the end of the round.
Played RM in their Open on 14th June 2008 having played nearly 200 courses in Scotland and about 225 in total I would put this course in my top 15. Equal to Pollock Ladybank Downfield. Greens were superb and the course was extremely well manicured a credit to their greens staff. Can't wait to return.
Played on Monday 28th April 2008. I said i would return with my group and kept my word. They were not dissapionted and loved the place, not much more to say as said it before, but disappointed hole 6 was temp green as a great par 3 which we were not informed about before we went out. Apart from that a great golfing experience again, thank musselbrough.
our group played royal musselburgh on the 28/04/08 and everyone enjoyed this great course! its the second time i have played RM and although the greens werent in the same condition they were last sept the course still played well considering the time of year. sadly my favourite hole, the par 3 6th was on a winter green following a diseased green which was a little bit of let down for me but i still enjoyed the course and was a great start to our 4 day trip. i will hopefully get the chance to play RM again during the summer as it is well worth the drive from newcastle. great service in pro shop and bar staff were accommodating and friendly. highly recommended and for £30 per round it wont break the bank.
WHAT A SMASHING COURSE!!! played here in mid september and the greens were fantastic! i can honestly say they were the best greens ive played on this entire year and for it been so late in the season i can only compliment the green staff. the course its self is brilliant from the 1st hole all the way through to the 19th its a treat for any real golfer. the layout has been well thought out and meranders around the club house and the grounds, finishing in front of the club house were we enjoyed a nice welcome and a good value meal and pint. the course is sprinkled with some really nice little par 3s and some long par 5s with my favourite hole being the 6th. i cant wait to return and play the course again. well worth the money and the 2hour drive to get there!!!!
Played on Friday 14th September 2007. What a beautiful course. From hole 1 you are in for a treat. The greens were absolutely superb, I have never played on better green than this all year!! The welcome from the young worker in the pro shop was 1st class as was the bar and food service. A must visit in my book, i am considering taking my group back in April i was that impressed.
I visited here with friends from Wales and we had a superb day. The course is very well laid out and the greens excellent. The welcome we received in the clubhouse and from the staff was first class.
The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is a parkland course, partly tree lined, views of the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh in the distance. I had the pleasure of playing this superb interesting course during the summer when conditions were ideal. A warm welcome awaits the visitor from the Professional, Green Staff and in the club house, where the catering is excellent. A visit here should be a must if in East Lothian.
This course was very difficult. The day I played it it was very windy. It is not overly long and does present several good birdie chances. The rough is really rough. In some places it was as high as 7". The greens were in good condition and the clubhouse was spetacular. The pro shop was adequately stocked and everyone except the waitress in the lounge was very nice. A good golfing experience.
A good pub for after match drinks is the Volunteer Arms in Musselburgh (known as Staggs). Friendly atmosphere and excellent beer.
