This course is now closed. Shame, this was a very enjoyable course playing either side of the Severn Valley Railway.

The continuing improvement over the years of Severn Meadows Golf Club continue to impress regular visitors including my friends and i. A warm welcome from the helpful staff give you the impression that they want you to have a wonderful day, using their facilities and golf course. The green fee is cheap compared to other courses in the area and listening to the members at the club the membership fee is the same, play golf for just over a pound a day here. The condition of the course amazes many and with a membership of less than 200,it would certainly benefit the club with more members.I wish i lived closer than the 40 mile round trip. The course itself is surrounded by breathtaking scenery of the severn valley, its set out on rolling meadow and woodland which originally started as a 9 hole course. The first three holes are testing to say the least, two nice par 3's to get you going and then "THE ROCK" par4. Stay in play on these three and you will set yourself up for a good score before playing the longer holes. The "HEARTBREAKER" 1st is tough anything wayward here and your in trouble, keep it straight towards the green short is better than left or right. As you progress around the course you are greeted by longer holes on the newer part of the course lined by trees, here you can set youself up with nice pars with good drives with the 5th being 490+yd par 4. The new part of the course could do with a few more features in places, with bunkers few and far between. Some bunkers that are their are hidden with the 8th giving you a feeling of safety until reaching the green you find the entire front of the green protected by sand.NASTY!! Those of you who love challenging green's well come here and if you only 3 putt once you would have had a good day.The par 3 10th is tough with bogey written all over it,i could find more to write about the course but go and sample this course for yourself. Don't forget to sample the 19th, friendly staff will look after you with a cool drink and food and then relax in the bar or on the patio overlooking the 18th......NICE!!!!

Just played there yesterday in a society (28th May Bank holiday Monday). The fairways and greens were in a wonderful condition, especially after the rain we had the following few days. The greens were the best I have ever seen, fast and true (and seriously undulating!) I consider this course to be the best in the country and would become a member straight away, if only it was closer to home. (takes about 1 hour to get there from Birmingham) Everytime I play it, it gets better and better.

have just played the course with 4 other people it was in wonderful condition , the greens were immaculate with plenty of different tiered greens making the putting interesting. I play golf at least twice a week and have found this to be one of the best courses i have played for a couple of years and will be going back ASAP . If you have never been give it a try . Have a buggy as it is hard on your legs . The staff were very helpful and the beer on the balcony overlooking the 18th green was lovely . Played this course at the w/end with our society ( 31 members attended). Found the course setting a real delight. Although not a particularly mature course the fairways are well sculptured with semi rough and deep rough making positioning off the tee a pre requisite to score well. In addition the well placed water hazards make club selection even more important. The facilities off course are excellent with a driving range and the clubhouse provides a good selection of food and drink. Well worth the visit although the price may seem a little steep for the package provided. Suggest this will be a course that features on most players " must do " list once fully matured

I have played this course three times and will be going back again. Fantastic scenery great course, green to tee can be a bit far at times.2-3 longest walk between holes and up hill, but a water fountain is supplied for refreshment at 3rd tee. If only I lived 20miles closer I would definitely become a member. A must for any standard of golfer.

i played the course years ago when the new 9 holes had just opened, and only returned recently. what a difference! i understand it has recently changed hands and the new staff have done a remarkable job. the greens were excellent, and the whole course was generally well presented compared to how it used to be. the natural location of the holes made them ideally suited for "excellent" status but i felt last time i played that some attention to detail was needed. i was therefore pleasantly surprised to find neatly trimmed fringes, what appeared to be new flagpoles and cups, and carpet steps up to the elevated tees. this course always had the potential to be one of the very best in the area and with a year or two more of hard work which has obviously been put in, it will be. worth a round any day of the week.

Overall a smashing round of golf (after finding the place due to poor signposting from village). The course was originally a 9 hole but has been extended to 18 and some of the newer holes are quite featureless and not very challenging, however this should not put anyone off as there are plenty of very challenging ones where bunkers trees and slopes come into play. Most of the greens are in very good condition.. There is some great scenery and yes there are a few hilly holes and distance between holes but well worth a visit. We were welcomed by friendly informative staff and issued with a map of the course and a card. If I lived nearer this course I would join - bargain price £385.00 Full membership....Go play it!!!

What a disapointment! Every hole is played blind as there is no map (just a piece of paper with a little hand drawing as a guide) if you do play this course be prepared to lose quite a few balls, also take plenty of water as the walk between each hole is outrageous, I would go as far as saying this course is better suited for ramblers over golfers. With paying green fee's of £25 our entire playing group walked off the course feeling cheated and we have all vowed never to set foot on Severn Meadows again. My rant could go on and on but I'll cut it short and leave it with a positive note, the majority of the greens are in excellent condition and with the amount of levels they will prove a test for all golfers.

A very enjoyable course, with spectacular views. I recommend the course to anyone

A very nice course enjoyable for all the family and not too far from bridgnorth, The 1st 10 holes are fairly challenging and the rest are extremely hard. the new nine help develop this exciting course

Posted by Thom Greenwood on 01/10/2002

Extremely interesting course, with a good variety of holes. Course splits after three holes onto new nine hole development, and then comes back into established settings, for a very tricky end to an 18 hole round. Would recommend this course to anyone looking for a varied challenge.

Possibly, one of the best pay & play cources I've ever played. Any course in which the rough is almost as wide as the fairway, is deffinately going to provide a challenge. Not sure what I was impressed with the most, the breath taking scenery, or top quality greens.

A very enjoyable course, tight fairways and severe rough. Take plenty of spare balls. Club house staff and members were very friendly.
