6 reviews of Shifnal Golf Club

Played on a cracking summer evening. Course was dry and the ball was kicking on - if you hit the fairways! The management of the course here is outstanding, not a fault to be found. Greens, tee boxes, fairways were in superb condition. Holeswise, the 6th is tough, being fairly tight with water around. the 9th killed by card (sort of) - don't try to cut the corner, play as a par 5 - I will next time. The signature hole 12th is a cracker of a par 3, aiming at the whitewash clubhouse over lots of water. Others have said the 18th is a beautiful driving hole, especially if you draw the ball. I'd agree entirely. I got my first ever single digit score here, so will draw me back sooner rather than later to learn from this time.

A good all-round test of golf, not overly long or penal, but testing enough all the same. The first few holes are on flatter parts but you need to keep it straight. Once you're on the back nine it gets a little hillier. Whilst there are good holes all over the course, the par 3's impressed me the most, especially the 17th which looks a fairly straightforward mid-iron off the tee, but is played to a huge, sloping green. I found the green and was pleased to ONLY take 3 putts! The view from the 18th is equally stunning...take it in for a moment before unleashing your final tee shot down 'Decker Hill'. The clubhouse is an old whitewashed grade II listed building, but has the feel of a golf club clubhouse with lots of small cosy bars, as opposed to one big communal area. It's a bit out in the sticks, about 20 mins from the M54 (although it sounds as if it's very near to you at times). If you do decide to make the trip though, it's well worth it!

Ashmore golf society played this course on 11/7/05 course was in excellent condition credit to all the green staff.slight mix up with tee times however the golf pro/shop staff were very good to slot 22 of us in .Big thanks to the lady members who allowed us to play before thier competition, club house very relaxing with good food and plenty of drinks. This course is a must for any society who want a good variety of par 3 and testing par 4 holes.A testing course for anyone who misses the fairway ,plenty of trees to negotiate.

Course in excellent condition fairly tough, one testing water hole over a lake. Only slight disappoinment is that guests cannot tee off before 08.00 hours. If you arrive before as we did coffee is diabolical from machine don't bother! A credit to the greenkeeping staff.
