5 reviews of Stapleford Park Golf Course

First of all you notice that this place is not geared up to have visitors, when you arrive there is a lack of information telling you where to go. Then the to find the first tee is not plain and simple. The golf course, well it's not bad, good length, some good holes and in nice condition but at £75 for the day it's not worth it. You can pay £50 a day for a good course near by. Then you go for half time drink and food and find a burger and chips cost £12(yes it was nice thou). Finally, the staff were good but the members we encounted were rude and snobs quoting they have more rights because they have paid £3000 a year subs. If I see them at my club I'll treat them with the contempt they diserve.

Was a guest at the hotel on the 14th October and was privledged to play with my great friend Brien Walker on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Brien must be one of the greatest golfers in the country for his age and is still playing with a single figure handicap. Watch and learn! I have played the course several times and the price has recently comedown to £50 which is'nt bad considering how good it is. Channels golf club in Essex for example A bog standard course, charges the same price. And the hotel is pretty good as well!

Played in April on 2fore1, good value at £25. Before I played I had been warned that it was a beautiful course but I would only play one round. They were right! The course is set in a valley and is cut from agricultural land and follows the river, with water in play on many holes. The wind comes down into the valley from the hills above, and on the day we played made a challenging course virtually impossible for the average golfer. The course is beautifully designed and prepared, but it is a proper championship course so very long. This might explain why you never see more than a few people playing. If I were a single figure handicapper I would rush to play this course as its outstanding value for the quality of golf. Unfortunately as a mid to high handicapper I shall have to improve considerably before I feel ready to tackle this course again. But I would recommend everyone to try this

Played recently on a 2FORE1 deal at £25 for day ticket. Setting and quality of clubhouse & facilities top notch and 'pyramid' of free practise balls a nice touch. Course is still very new but was immaculately presented with high rough ready to punish any errant shots. A definate links feel to some holes but plenty of dog legs, water and protected greens mean an excellent test. Greens were receptive and putted very true. One word of warning it is a 5* resort and although the golf is excellent value they are not shy about charging off course as we found when settling our tab. £9.20 for a basic bacon bap & a coffee!

Played the course on a 2fore1 in october. The whole set up still has a very new feel to it and it all seems very strange. There was not many people playing in fact for along while there was only us,which was ok.Paid £50 for two people, which all in all was good value. You get a pile of range balls to practice with for free on a small but nice range and putting green. The course on some holes off the whites required you to be a very good golfer,as the carry and length of the holes especially in wind was very long. The course itself was top quality, cut to perfection and very challenging, probably the best prepaired course i have played. The rough however was ball lost time if you went in it,it was very thick.A top golf course though, it is a proper championship course and you realise how good the better golfers are who can play this course in scratch or better. Its a proper golfers golf course and worth at least one visit to try for your self the fairways, geens and cavenous bunkers, which require some thought to play.I have to say parts of the course are linksy, parts are plain, parts are pleasing on the eye and parts are a little open.
