I played this course early Sept '11 and really enjoyed it. Great variety in the holes which contrasts nicely to where I live! Good greens and really friendly staff. My dad found it a bit hard going with the ups and downs but he's not at his peak! When we go back it will involve buggy hire!

Played this last night on a reduced green fee of £15 and was pleasantly surprised. As a member of a members club in Bristol I have always looked at Stockwood as a hackers course with ropey greens and blokes in jeans playing as 5 balls - but this is no longer true. The greens are of very high quality - as good as any course in the area (seriously!) - and the newer holes that have been added after the 4th of the original 9 hole course make it much more challenging. As somone else said, it's easy to see where the original 9 were and these are a bit tricked up with lots of valleys and mounds to play through, and it does feel as if the holes have been squeezed in to the available land. Keep it straight and you can tame them very easily as they are short. Loved the drop hole 13th which is a scary par 4 with trouble right, left and straight in front of you. So all in all, well done Stockwood - the course hhas improved no end since I last played it 10 or 15 years ago. It's still best suited for mid to high handicappers, but for value for money and an interesting challenge you can't really go wrong.

Played this course yesterday with a few friends and we were all extremely impressed with the course. After the poor weather of the last month or so the course was in excellent condition. A real challenge for golfers of all handicaps. Beautiful location and a snip at less than £20 a round. It's worth noting that the course is very hilly in parts so if you've had a beer or 2 the night before or are just a bit lazy, a buggy is a very good idea! The ones with GPS are well worth investing in. Great course, great value for money.

Quite a short course but can be very tricky in places. The first hole is easy and is possibly driveable for the big hitters but from then on it gets harder. The 8th is a dog leg right and has a huge tree cutting into the dogleg, very hard hole that will test most people to reach in two. On the back nine the 13th is the signature hole. You play from a elevated tee down into a valley qith water in front of the fairway, trees to the left and ob to the right. Anything that hits the fairway you can be happy with and then the fairway slopes upwards onto a raised receptive green. This is a good course that is excellent value for mony and i recommend to all types of golfer.

Relatively short and easy course which will not attract the better golfer. Greens were fairly good and the ball rolled ok. Course layout is not good, mainly because of the restrictions of the available land and it is easy to see the course started off as a 9 hole. Shame about having to walk around the clubhouse to get to 16th tee. The pro shop, bar/catering and course management team were all welcoming and helpful and the food was definaitely value for money. However, I would not rush back to play this course, mainly bacause of the layout.

A really interesting and challenging course, especially for the mid to high handicapper. The first six holes are all short, nothing over 400 yards but holes two through to six will test most players. Excellent greens well protected with bunkers. Beautiful setting with fine wiews. Friendly staff, comfortable clubhouse with satisfying food at reasonable prices. Very reasonable green fees. A first class visit.

Great value for money. Paid £11 for a lunchtime tee off. Played for the first time yesterday and thought the course had great variety of holes. Fairways, rough and Greens all in good nick. There was a bottle neck around the 3rd and 4th then at the 13th so would imagine that on busier days and times this could be a problem. But on whole a good course for mid-handicappers.

As a visitor from Essex I have been very impressed with this course over the last two years particulally the transistion from a 9-hole to a very challenging 18 hole which I can recommend to any golfer visiting Bristol.
