I played Swansea Bay at the end of a golf tour that took in The Vale and Cargidan clubs, and was truthfully expecting it to be the weak link of the three courses.....not a bit of it, despite a grim changing room and a basic club/bar area upstairs, the course itself was an absolute beaut, and whilst the first seven holes were flat and parklandish, they were all very playable with some of the finest smooth greens that I have seen for ages. Nothing though got you ready for the holes after going underneath the Motorway. These were just sheer links, hummucky undulating fairways, banks, dunes, whispy rough and pencil thin fairways, but again with fantastic greens........as good as links holes anywhere. The par 5 12th is played towards the huge Motorway on stilts high above you, and makes it a very "original" hole, as is the 13th par 3. Then its back to the parkland bits and through the underpass to the 14th, and panic,a hill, you have to hit up a hill dammit grommit!............lovely lovely course with superb greens, well worth a visit if in the area
Play Swansea Bay regular as am working in the area.A decent test of golf(especially when the wind is up)and a nice flat course which is not too tiring on the legs.Very enjoyable 8 holes over the road, some lovely tight fairways.Recommended.
Tough, especially the holes on the coast side of the road, fairways a bit tired but not too bad, fair value for money, only £9.50 with county card.
I thought the course was very easy, having carded a superb round of 98 playing off a handicap of 7. Obviously the wind makes the course a bit more difficult but i managed the wimd quite well. A definate recommendation to anybody.
This course is a challenge, but I wouldn't go along with the other comments in regards of it being too hard for some. I think it's pretty fair and not too harsh a challange for the med-high handicapper. Although I did play in February, maybe in the summer the rough is extended and the course is rendered that much tougher. Regardless, it's a good course and one I'll play again.
This is the only course to play if you want a chance of makinh the cut at the OPEN. It is very tight. It is no course for the beginer. Come to the course and play it. Mickey thought it was very hard.
Having played this course, the only comment I can make is: The course demanding, the greens are almost as good as PENINA (Portugal) del Boy.
THIS IS A GREAT COURSE. BACK NINE IS VERY TOUGH. YOU NEED TO PLAY WELL TO GET A GOOD SCORE AS THE COURSE DOES NOT TAKE PRISONERS.SUPERB GREENS.
