Spalding is rated as one of the best courses in Lincolnshire and it is easy to see why. There are some superb holes with water hazards used sparingly but effectively throught the course. My only disappointment were holes 15 to 17 which seem like they were built on a piece of spare land and do not belong with the remainder. Nevertheless, still a brilliant track. Nice clubhouse. Three course meal was superb.
Spalding is a regular annual pilgramage for our society and the course never dissapoints. Both fair and challenging with holes that remain in the memory for a long time, the course is surprisingly undulating for Lincolnshire. It has some wonderful Par 3s, and a superb finishing hole in front of the clubhouse. Friendly courteous staff, good food and excellent practice facilities, I would thoroughly recommend anyone to visit.
I first played Spalding in May2000 as a guest in the Kilspindie Society Day. The course is not particularly long but blustery conditions, strategically placed bunkers and sloping greens make a very enjoyable round. Luckily for me I played with two of the clubs older veterans whom provided direction advice which was vital. I'm looking forward to returning for another challenging game.
