This club is perfect, infinite variety in the course challenge, well it is MacKenzie, great clubhouse and staff, especially the pro shop. The greens were scary fast. Great course for 36 holes, as the second round will be totally different from the first. Try the MacKenzie challenge, stay in the Cotswolds and play Lilley Brook, The Worcestershire and Worcester G & CC. All designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie, golf enjoyment does not get any better than this.
You will have an enjoyable day playing this course, that is if you can take your eyes of the scenery! The Malvern Hills are one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, the views from the course are quite spectacular, especially as you stand on the raised tee on the 18th and look at the stunning backdrop. As a course, the overall feel is of a pleasant parkland course which is tricky, but can be good for scoring once you've plotted a way round. I'm not saying it's easy though, you certainly can't be complacent. This is one of the oldest clubs in England, certainly the oldest non-links course. Steeped in so much history, you could forgive the club for having an old fashioned, tired clubhouse. Far from it. Five years or so ago, the club built a fantastic new clubhouse which has all the facilities one could want at a top venue, good changing rooms, a well equiped pro-shop and a nice bar and restaurant area. All in all, very good indeed.
What a super friendly welcome we received from all the staff and members. Excellent new clubhouse facilities. We visited on a "winter warmer" package which included a good value meal after golf. Great views of the Malvern Hills from the course which was looking a little tired after the main season, made worse by some (self inflicted we were told)damage to the greens. Some very good holes, but these were interspersed with about seven "up and down" rather ordinary holes which made it difficult to remember the round afterwards. Nevertheless a good day out on their winter package.
Our Society of 20 members played this course on 6th May and all thought it was quite outstanding both in terms of its natural beauty and condition in all aspects. The greens were surprisingly slow (the practice green was just the same) but very true. We shall certainly be returning.
We recently had a golf tour to the area and had the pleasure of playing at the Worcestershire Golf Club. The staff and members were very friendly and all 32 of us really enjoyed our day. I thought our course had some lovely views but the back drop of the Malvern Hills and surrounding area were fantastic. The course is great too, with lots of really nice holes! A must if you are in the area!
HAVING TRAVELLED TO PLAY GOLF IN 6 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, I HAVE YET TO FIND A COURSETHAT IS THIS BEAUTIFUL AND CHALLENGING FOR ALL HANDICAPS. A TRULY TRADITIONAL AND WONDERFUL COURSE. I WOULD NOT SWAP MY MEMBERSHIP FOR ANYTHING.
Although a true members course, and one steeped in history having been established in 1879,it is a true delight to play testing low and high handicaps alike. Superb views and the best greens in Worcestershire combine to make this course a true golfers paradise.
