All in all Thornbury is a pretty poor golf club. The staff are mostly unhelpful and the pro seems to be quite happy with booking people in before sunrise, meaning a queue of people on the tee waiting for it to get light. The course management is poor leading to almost unplayable tees and greens for a large portion of the year. Practice facilities include a driving range and a putting green, but no short game area. They claim to have the best golfing facilities in the area. This is not true. They are more interested in weddings and corperate events, therefore there is a significant lack of investment in the course itself. The £9.99 off peak green fee and lack of etiquette leads to a mass of hackers wearing shorts and t-shirts on the course who are not aware of the idea of letting people play through, and in the summer you will be lucky to get round in 5 hours. Thornbury is good for the beginner who does not want to spend much on golf, but other than that it is generally very poor and certainly not a members club.

1st the good points the coffee afterwards the bad points the beeddy eye woman at reception who made us feel like we were going to steel something from the shop the range was closed and we had to move on to the back 9 by marshall as the old locals were not happy that we got a tee time before them on seniors day never again will i go there and the course is nothing special a little boring

I have played both the long and par 3 course, so thought I would comment on the par 3 course as no one has done this to date. Im mu opinion this is a great course, there are lots of challenges even though most holes are between 100 - 130 yards. There are a couple of longer holes (170, and 200), but most are around the 100-120 yard mark. This makes for an ideal practise for your short game, which I need. All in all the fairways and greens are in very good condition and for £10 for 18 holes it is very good value for money. Would highly rate this course.

Really enjoyable round at Thornbury; it's a most forgiving course, with huge open fairways so plenty of room for error for the high-handicapper. Greens and fairways in top condition, and while not packed with hazards or water features, there are enough bunkers about to keep you on your toes. Friendly staff, well run club and an absolute bargain to play the twilight offer of £12/round after 2pm. Superb value, highly recommended.

The long course at Thornbury is relatively flat with wide open fairways, geneous greens and the odd spot of water here and there on the back nine. A great user friendly course for golf societies and an excellent confidence booster for the experienced player trying to remember how to par holes.

Played the "long" course twice in the winter months and on both occasions the course should have been closed due to the conditions. The "long" course is rather boring which is in contrast to the "short" par-3 course which is fun and excellent value for money. The downhill 13th on the short course would do justice to any long course.

A super course where everything is in great condition and very tidy. Quite a short course with many of the holes offering birdie oppertunities. Extremely open and great fun to play with a really friendly atmosphere.
