10 reviews of Tinsley Park Golf Club (Municipal)

As far as a municipal course goes, this is up there. As stated below the first 3 holes are a tricky trio. but 4 & 5 are pick up holes f played right. The greens are currently in outstanding condition and far suppass any private course in this area. I would say its a must play for the price. Impressed!!

Played the course on a busy Saturday afternoon. I would hope nobody is put off by the fact this is a municipal course as it's in outstanding health. I'm aware the scenery is not exactly breathtaking but lets get real, it 95% about the golf and from tee to green it's quality. Not the easiet course and certainly a very tricky opening 3 holes where safety is the best option. Don't blow your score here as it can be made elsewhere on the course. At £17 per round it's quite an acceptable price as well, I do believe if this was classed as a private course they could demand upto £35 so the value is there to be had. Only two negatives. 1. It can take near 5 hours to complete the round, not sure why but it tends to be a slow course. 2. The occasional unsavoury characters on or around the course. A couple of shirtless players were spotted and basically there's just no need for that. Overall, give the course a go. The greens are in top condition and can prove a testing course.

Played today for the first time, and the course is fantastic. Lots to think about on most of the holes. Fairways are closely mowed and often contoured and with lots of run on the ball it pays to plan your approach! Quite busy, even on a Wednesday afternoon but the course is in such a good condition it's not surprising. Pro shop is very well stocked (better than any other municipal I've seen) and at £14 the round was a bargain. Will definitely be coming back!

Played Mid October and agree that this a great value muni. Once you pass through the industrial estate and pay the car park a quid to watch your car, the facilities are good. Practise area, shabby but well stocked pro shop and a high quality course. No scuffed greens, nicked flags and bare bunkers here. Course was a bit spongy but it had rained a lot, so in the summer it might be a little easier with more role. Back nine felt a bit more challenging with some tricky dog legs and a bit more in the way of contours. For £13 the locals must be in heaven. No driving range, but a few miles over the motorway you can practise.

This is the best municipal course in Sheffield, better than some of the private courses. The greens are the excellent, and the Par 4 10th is awesome as I holed in 2 with a 6-iron from about 300 yards(ish). The 9th has a very solid tree which withstood the full force of another of my 6-irons after a wayward shot. I now have a new 6-iron!. Good egg butties available from the upstairs bar.

I have only played the course once in a semifinal cup match,i can only say for a municipal golf course it was superb. Value for money and what super greens, if only more municipal courses were of this high standard.OH by the way we lost the match so i am not biass, thanks for a great day.

I have played Tinsley Park many times and although I am only 12 years of age, I think the course is excellent in the summer but in the Winter the raised 6th tee is normally boggey. It still plays very well. If you like a challenge you should be impreesed when you see the 16th it is around 460 yards - 500 yards. The 3rd hole is also a long one around 460 yards which is a par 5 I got a par when I played in September.

26th June 2000 This is a very good public course. Some holes prone to being water logged in wet weather, but the condition of course much better now its dry, although the 12th is still on temporary. Some of the greens are excellent, the 1st and 7th inparticular. Very challenging 16th.
