Fantastic value at £10 each with a Greenfree voucher. Yes it is a bit hilly, but not as drastic as it sounds from some of the comments on here. A lot of the holes are across the slope so you need to be able to play the ball from above or below your feet. Quite a few blind shots as well, so a stroke saver would be a good investment - in particular, the 1st has a deep ditch across the front of the green which you dont see until you get to about 30 yards of it and theres at least one long par three to a blind green. Its not a long course, but is a good challenge for a mid to low handicapper, most of the holes require some thought on the tee. Oh, and the views......
The very friendly welcome from the club members ensured that I will remember this round for a long time. My bad play that day also makes me remember the course. I was told by the clubmembers that the course was far from being at it's best due to being too wet (and windy). The course it self is a moorland course based on mostly sloping (sideways) fairways on a fairly steep hillside. There is plenty of burns on the course. The course feels longer than the stated 5200 yards. It is therefore a tricky course with very difficult fairways, made even more difficult due to the wet and windy weather. The views from the course was very good and memorable. The greens is very good. The same goes for the clubhouse and locker rooms. If you are a visitor, include frequent photo breaks in your game. I recommend this course if you want to experience very tricky moorland golf on sideways sloping greens. This is a difficult course and newbeginners (like myself) should maybe go for easier courses. If you are seeking a target golf challenge; this is the one for you. Will I play this course again ? Yes I will. I will be back. But only after improving my game substantially. But do not let my bad game scare you off this course, which is one of the better courses in the Glasgow area.
A moorland coures on a hillside with superb views over loch lomond . some interesting holes with the 17th a downhill par 3 a joy to play .
