I played on 16 August for the twilight rate of £15 and the club was happy to allow me to start a little early which is a plus point. Even off the white tees the course was really rather dull and while tricky pin positions would make scoring more difficult I suspect that handicaps obtained here are flattering. You can view the holes on the club's website so no need for a course planner, another plus point, but the descriptions aren't very accurate. I thought that 15 as an uphill 200 yd par 3 was one of the best holes but it was described as " a seemingly easy par 3". In view of the puddles at some points I would think this course gets very wet in the winter. 6,7 and 16 are the best holes but none are memorable

We played a North Wales vs Cheshire match at Vicars Cross Golf Club yesterday. I was extremely impressed with the facilities in and around the Clubhouse, Practice Range, Putting Green, Short game area...spot on. The Course was a pleasure to play, very tight off some tees due to the tree lined fairways but this is obviously the course protection as it`s not the longest of courses. As we all know the Winter has been AWFUL, and as a Headgreenkeeper I fully understand how difficult it has been for ALL Greenkeepers to present a Course in playable condition...Vicars Cross Golf Club surpassed EVERYONES expectations during our matches, the Greens where absolutely AWESOME with a capital A!! Firm, fast and true...fantastic. I can recommend this Golf Course to everyone, and I will certainly be returning during the Summer months with fellow Greenkeepers and Pros in tow. Thanks to all, especially the Greens Staff...good job boys!

Played on 15th September 2009. Vicars Cross is a mature pretty course with gentle undulating terrain just off one of the main roads leading to Chester. Some of the greens have severe slopes and and a number of the pin placements on the day bordered on sadistic. However, there are some very nice holes and I would certainly return if I was in the area.

Played during a short business trip to Cheshire. The course was easily found, the welcome was not special, but Ok. Interesting course, some nice holes. It was in quite good condition, the fairways and bunkers well kept. The greens we generally smooth and ran well. They were very variable - some of them were quite different in character to others which is a bit strange. It had rained a bit before our visit, and a couple of holes were a bit sploshy, so maybe a visit in winter wouldn't be such a good idea. Didn't try the catering, but the clubhouse was well appointed if a bit faded. Overall, really enjoyed the course and might well revisit on a future trip

Took the two lads on a camping holiday round Chesire and played several courses. Vicars Cross was pretty good whilst not being outstanding. Started well before we set foot on the course as we arrived well early and the lads had a few games of snooker whilst I watched the cricket. Not every club would allow juniors on the table. An interesting start with dog legs on the first two holes, just the start you want when playing for the first time! Course was well maintained and greens true with some cunningly placed ditches. Finishing par 3 probably the best hole. Just the weather spoilt the day - hailstone in August a real joy. Back for another game of snooker and a pint. not bad.

Credit should be given to the staff and members of Vicars Cross for making this one of the most delightful golf expierences that anybody would enjoy. The course is in brilliant condition with every hole as enjoyable as the last one furthermore the attitude of staff and members is a breath of fresh air, even the manager of the junior team who earlier in the week had seen his team lose out on a place in the national finals at the Belfry, after two of the opposing side had returned with points scores of 46 and 49.

This is a wonderfull course in very pleasant surroundings. There are a few notable holes on the course namley the 9th only 254yds off the yellow tees yet tough because of 5 bunkers! Making it extremly difficult to drive the green. Also take not of the 16th green a two teir left and right affair wich has vicious borrows in all directions!
