1 review of Wakefield Golf Club

Played the course 16th August at 5pm as a 2 ball, having had it recommended to us. With green fees at £35 each we had high expectations and the course definitely lived up to them. It is a really mature course with 2 loops of 9 coming back to the reasonably well appointed club house. The majority of the fairways are reasonably tight and tree lined and there is a premium on being straight. There are some great changes in elevation and several of the holes (especially 12) are really picturesque. The fairways were much more heathland than parkland and the greens were in fantastic condition, receptive, true and reasonably paced. The service in the bar afterwards was a little slack but other than that we had no complaints. If I lived locally this would be a fantastic course to play each week as a member. What was most surprising was that the course was so quiet and despite not rushing (and some occasional hunting for balls) we were round within just over 3 hours.
