Played today 31/05/2015. What a nice course, played it in a society and we all agreed how much we enjoyed it.We will return only fault was the bunkers but w ith the heavy over night rain they were dry but hard and not easy to play from.greens quick and consistent.worth a visit I don't think you will be disappointed.
Absolute gem of a course. Being a single handicap member of Beau Desert (in the top 70 courses in england) I have fairly high expectations and I am pleased to say Walsall GC did not disappoint. The holes are all individual, beautifully tree lined and a great test to any level of golfer. The course was in immaculate condition and most importantly the greens were true and running lovely. From the moment I passed through the gates the members were polite and the golf pro shop staff more than helpful. I had the pleasure of a conversation with the 2014 Captain who again was welcoming and a sure sign of what a friendly, welcoming and great place to play golf. I thoroughly recommend WGC
Played 36 on a Friday in mid June and found the course to be remarkably green despite the recent hot spell. Condition of all aspects were excellent and the large greens both a pleasure and a challenge to putt on. What is nice about the course is that there is a selection of holes of different difficulty thus giving you opportunities for birdies as well as some serious challenges. All the par 3s were tough and probably hold the key to a good score. It was nice that the tees were close to the greens and this led to a speedy round helped by the absence of other golfers giving the millionaire feel. Off course facilities deserve a special mention as food was excellent and very reasonable with the clubhouse also serving a couple of excellent real ales. The atmosphere was great and if I wasnt a member elsewhere Id seriously consider joining as vacancies are currently available. Special mention to the Professional who helped to make our visit as enjoyable as possible, he is certainly a credit to both himself and the club. Well worth a visit for passing golfers as M6 Junc 9 is only a mile or so away, although there was a welcome absence of motorway noise. Using a county card or Open Fairways make this a very good value track as well and for this money I would not think you will be disappointed.
Brilliant - a little gem. Very friendly staff and members, challenging course, well looked after - faultless! great value for money. Well done The Walsall - i wish we hadn't bothered with the belfry - just a number there. If your looking for a round in the midlands - look no further - you wont be dissappointed!
Beautiful course, not exceptionally long but every accuracy required from tees. All greens in excellent condition and very quick. I was invited by a memeber for an invitional fourball and the whole afternoon was extremely enjoyable.
Walsall Golf Club is a very good test of golf. With tree lined fairways and well placed bunkers it is essential to put the ball in the correct place otherwise you can be punished severely. I played the course in early October and found some of the fairways quite soggy but winter rules allowed `pick and place` so the problem was not to bad. The greens were superb and a credit to the ground staff. Some difficult pin positions added to the enjoyment of the round. A well stocked pro shop {It`s like an Eladdins cave), exellant changing rooms, superb clubhouse and friendly staff I have no hesitation in recommending this course to anyone
When you turn off the ring road a surprise as big as Augusta awaits you after the electric gates swing back. Walsall GC is a gem in the heart of the west midlands. We played on the Friday before the bank holiday and had most of the course to ourselves. It suggests an easy parkland style course and in the main it is level with a large number of par 4 and 5s which nestle in amongst the mature trees. This club is almost 100 years old and the course has developed nicely. However and it is a big however, the greens are fast! and the bunkers deep and plentiful. You are often confused as to whether to drive and risk the bunkers or lay up but take one more to get to the green. I would not play a local here since there is clearly a learning curve for any new player. The facilities are excellent with a well stocked pro shop and large changing facilities and club house. At £33 for 18 holes this was on the higher side, but the course represented good value and a second visit would be as enjoyable. The only slight blemish were the rather gruff members who appeared uninviting to pay and play.
My company has it's annual golf day at Walsall. Not being from the area the first time I went I was a little sceptical. Walsall does not conjour images of rolling failways. But this course is the most pleasant surprise I have ever played. My first shock was the greens. They are absolutely fantastic. I have rarely played greens of this quality anywhere. They are fast, true, and respond to good shots. I had a huge shock when I walked onto the practice green for the first time and hit a 6 foot putt 8 feet past. The greens on the course are identical. The overall condition of the course is always good as well. Neat fairways and a fair amount of rough and trees make both good and bad scores a possibility. The final 4 holes are all high quality and you are not safe until you have completed the 18th. Highly recommended and as a bonus the staff are friendly and provide good food.
