West Hove Golf Club Ltd

I was surprised to find no reviews here on this course which relocated when golfers felt playing in a Sainsburys Superstore was too much of a challenge. I played for £15 (available after 3pm) on 4th July, perhaps the stillest day of 2011. The course is still maturing but is well designed with greens generally well protected. Several holes on the front 9 are rather bland but the 6th (484 yd par 4) is very good with a testing drive followed by a long second. The back 9 has good par 4's at 12 & 15 while 16 deserves its rating as the hardest hole. The 17th is a cracking long par 3. The 18th is 617 yd and while all downhill into the prevailing wind would still need 3 good blows. Greens were good and rough thick in places. Some dog legs have less distance to the elbow than appears. There is a good description of each hole on the club website which does help. The downside is lengthy hikes between holes with a 100 yd trek to the 2nd tee being a foretaste of what is to come. Those who hate traffic noise should avoid this course as the A27 is busy. Difficult to rate challenge as so untypically calm so I'll factor in some wind in my assessment.
