Played this course on the 9th. May during a Seniors Club Competition. This course has matured over the years (last played 6 years ago)and has now matured into a little gem.Excellent value for money, friendly staff and a fine day (we won of course)was completed with an excellent meal.Would highly recommend this course to players of all levels.
very enjoyable golf course.staff very helpful and polite .the course is not long ,but it is tight. in good condition and exerllent value ,also takes 241 vouchers
a good conditioned course well looked after but very very dangerous. would never play here again if it wasnt for my team wanting to play it. the holes design as there are are very good. a lot of right to left doglegs for a change with numerous water hazzards and bunkering in some evil but fair places no real rough problems but keep it on the short stuff or you will suffer. the club house is small and service every time we have been here is slow. but thats due to how busy it gets. there is nothing to shout about on this course although i did enjoy the par 3 holes. nice small putting green and driving range so can warm up before your round. just take a hard hat!!!
A nice short but challenging course with some very tight fairways. Alot of water and bunkers make this a tough course. Its also very cheap at only £10 a round. Its in very good condition and the greens are in supperb condition as well as the fairways that are very short and easy to hit off. I would say this is the most fun ive ever had on a course and will be sure to come back
I have played Whetstone 4 times this year (2002) and play with a handicap of 23. With the future development of the course which, will not only increase the length but challenge the lowest of handicappers. The narrow fairways lined with trees require accuracy and not always distance while the water holes have seen many of my golf balls. The long par 4 and 5's do benefit the big hitters but can be reached with good course management. The facilities are good with the bar serving a good menu for food and the open air driving range. My last visit was the most enjoyable so far, my friend and I teamed up with a member and guest for a four ball match play. A most enjoyable day and shows the nice hospitality of Whetstones members.
Having played a number of courses in the Leicestershire area and attaining an 8 handicap , Whetstone was my first choice for membership. The greens have been in superb condition, providing a slick surface to play on. The course is often put down as being too short at a little over 5700 yards on a par 68, but with the mature trees a number of these holes are extremely tight, putting most golfers under pressure to ensure that the fairways are hit. Prevailing winds that seem to play a major part at Whestone don't make it any easier when faced with some of the shots to green over water. The new extension that will take the course to over 6300 yards at a par 70 and I'm sure will certainly provide entertainment in the future.
Played on 26th July 2000, Well kept course with fantastic carpet like greens. Lots of walking between holes probably doubles the length of the course, but with an 86 can't complain.
Sunday December 19th Conditions were freezing cold, very difficult chipping and putting on greens. Only on one temeporary green, the 16th. Tremendous deal on at the minute , xmas dinner with round £15.50 well worth it.I was well pleased with a 92.Drives run for ever.
