Wincanton has most probably the best greens I have played on in a long while. I play many of the courses in Somerset Dorset and Wiltshire but Wincanton for only £7 for 9 holes its well worth it. A super challenging course and don’t let it put you off with the course being in the middle of the racecourse, there are many long par fours and fives that will catch you out with deep greenside bunkers. The two par threes are challenging too. The whole course is kept in good order and the club house is well stocked with all the golfing equipment I needed.

Great long hitting and challenging Golf Course set around the Racecourse at Wincanton. The Wonderful Views over Somerset and Dorset make it even a more pleasurable round of golf. It was the Second time I have played Wincanton Golf Club and I was so Surprised what I saw from what I saw from my 1st Visit around this time last year. What a vast improvement. Fantastic Greens Fairways Tee’s and Bunkers. I Could not believe how good the greens were at this time of the year from what the greens are like where I’m a member at. The Fairways were in super order also. Seems someone is doing something right. Good club house and friendly atmosphere. The green Fee for only £5 was superb value. A great day out and I’m sure to be back soon. Well done Wincanton Golf Club.

What a fantastic golf course to play this time of the year, at the end of December you think of playing golf in wet soggy conditions but not at Wincanton Golf Club. The Greens were in super condition and still holding the ball well and a very good speed. I can see that a lot of work and improvement has been undertaken. Fairways and Tee’s were ok also for this time of the year. The price of the green fee at £5 was very good and I would like to say to everyone its well worth a visit if your golf club are on winter greens as we are at my club at the moment. As a member of another local club it will be very interesting to play Wincanton Golf Club in the summer to see how much more improvement can be done. Well done to all involved.

If like me, you thought oh know this is just a golf course in a middle of a race track, then think again. Ok you are not going to have tree lined fairwarys but this course is more challenging than you may think. The course is a nine hole course, but with different tee blocks for front and back nine the two nines you do have to play different shots. There are several long par 4s (400 yards+) all with annoyingly placed bunkers. Protected greens also mean you do have to play good golf to score well. For £17 for weekend golf this does represent good value. The only down side are the greens as they are slow and with not much break on them. Overall well worth a play but come with an open mind.

An excellent course for beginners looking to move up to a full length course with it's wide fairways and immaculate greens you're guarenteed a good day out here. An amazing renovation of the old club house has transformed it into a modern an exciting course . If you haven't been for a while do check out of the new tee layout and club house , you'll be in for a pleasant surprise

This is a mighty long course when the winds up! Situated beautifully on the top of a hill, this course offers some good veiws. I found the course to be very open, but VERY challenging, as the heavy rough was well over knee height, and large bunkers were amazingly well placed. It was a good experience to see some drives go as little as 160 yards in to the wind, such as on the long par 4 third hole, and well over 270 on the downwind holes. Overall, the course may not look that challanging, but is scenic and is just like playing a links course, except, of course, without the sea. The greens were excellent, and the drainage was outstanding due to it being on a chalk base. If you play it, best of luck, I think you'll need it! Tom Andrews
