Having played the course several times over the last couple of years, I still find that it is a pleasure to play, and always in first class condition. A credit to Phil and his staff, always a pleasant welcome awaits you.
This is a great course that I would recommend to beginners and experienced golfers alike. The staff and the people their are very welcoming and I have had a number of good rounds with people their.
I have been playing this course now for three yrs and for the last 2yrs have been a member, I have submitted a view on other occasions we are now at 2011 almost 2012, I can honestly say that I and recently my brother in law john have enjoyed every minute we have played, the staff are absolutely first class curteous and friendly at all times, the course is kept in imaculate condition and though some people might moan when it is shut they might wish to consider that if they did not shut it then the course would not be in anywhere near the condition that it is and then they would moan, this course has taught me a great deal since I took up golf and I for one will always be extemely grateful to phil and the family and can't wait for next year
I have been here on numerous occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff are always freindly and willing to help, would recommend this to beginners and experienced golfers alike. My children have been here and they enjoyed it too. The majority of people who play here are also extremely freindly. As we were taking our time,we let people through and they all had a laugh and a joke with us.
This course is very short (par 28) but is excellent for the beginner golfer or even an experienced golfer who wants a practice with their irons. I have played this course numerous times throughout this summer as a quick 9 holes after work. It is always in excellent condition and is very well maintained indeed.
I FIND THE COURSE VERY PLEASANT TO PLAY, THE STAFF ARE VERY HELPFUL AND THE COURSE WELL MAINTAINED, I FEEL HAVING NOT BEEN PLAYING GOLF VERY LONG IT HAS HELPED ME GAIN A LOT OF EXPERIENCE AND LOOK FORWARD TO PLAYING MANY MORE TIMES IN THE FUTURE. MR PETER R CHAMBERS LEYLAND
I have always found this course very well maintained and the staff to be very friendly. It is not a course for the big hitters, but is challenging enough to improve your short game. Sometimes a wait on the 2nd hole, but you tend to get this on 9 hole courses. I imagine John Briggs (comment below) was just having an off day as I have never experienced any of the problems he commented on.
I am a member of a local golf club and took my son who is 8 and very capable to play as this is shorter than my club, was advised that he could not play because he was not 10 (good job they did not say that to Tiger Woods) and I could not play in normal spikes as they damage the green which is a myth! Had to laugh really as the general standard of player was appalling and my son was more than a match for them and I looked at some of the greens and they had huge unrepaired pitch marks splattered over them. Admittedly the ground was soft but they should concentrate on educating players to repair pitch marks than insist on soft spikes! I found the staff to very unfriendly.
Aesthetically, and technically, this is easily the best 9 hole course in the area. Huge, beautifully maintained greens, with short spongey fairways and sweping views, the course is in excellent shape. Because the fairways are wide and the greens large, it is a forgiving course and easied than the tighter 9 holers nearby. The only gripe I have is that because of the course's popularity it took almost 3 hours to get round and there were a lot of hackers leaving litter and huge divots in their wake. Still, there were benches for you to sit on while you watched people skid the ball off into bushes from the tee and a huge and excellently maintained practice putting green. Recommended, but go at an unpopular time, otherwise you'll get annoyed.
I have played Yarrow Valley several times this year with friends and we all agree that this is an excellent 9 holer, the best that they, and I, have ever played. A good challenge for all the par 3s and the par 4. Lakes are located about 100 yards down from the tees to the right hand side of the 2nd and 3rd fairways and behind the 6th green. The lakes on the 2nd and 3rd will catch anyone out attempting to cut corners with low shots. The fairways are tight around the lakes as well. Superb fairways, lush greens and beach-like bunkers signify that this is a well maintained course. In the winter, you are requested to use Winter Tee Mats for a £3 refundable deposit. The logic is to protect the fairways from getting wrecked, essential if you want to keep the course in a good state all year round, so it is worth it. The staff are very friendly and a small cafe is open as well as a well stocked Pro Shop. Practice facilites here include putting green and driving net. This course is a little bit pricey for some at £5 but it is well worth the money and represents better value than the other 9 holers in the area. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
The best nine hole course in the North West , brilliantly kept course and good variation , greens in great condidtion and a bargain to play .. what are you waiting for ?
Play this course on a regular basis. Very well kept course always making efforts to improve the site. Best 9 hole course I have played. Pleasent views over Chorley and surrounding area great place to spend a few hours. Ideal for beginners and establishing your short game. Highly recommend.
Lovely course, my favourite short 9 holer in the UK. We went round 3 times for £15. Bargain. Top greens, challenging enough, well worth a visit.
We play this course every week. The greens are kept very well, the holes are all relatively short, but are all challenging (for me anyways). The management/staff are very friendly. Queues are the norm on the 2nd tee at weekends. As I am still in the 'learning stages of golf' I find this course perfect.
A really well kept and enjoyable 9 holer. One or two challenging holes to make you think a little. I'd recommend it for £5, a good price too
This course is a well kept lovely course to play. it can get busy though and there are often cues at the tees. it is five pounds to play which to me is expensive as i am only 14 but it is well worth the money and i would reccomend it
the nicest 9-hole greens in england probably! its par 28 8 par 3s and 1 par 4. challenging and cheap!
