I have organised our society golf weekend here for the last 3 years and all my fellow golfers have said I hit gold when I book the Abbotsley. They have been going to different courses for the last 25 years and this is the best Hotel and course they have been to. Both courses are a delight to play, we play the Cromwell for 18 holes and the Abbotsley for 36 holes. When we first came here in 2011 we all remarked that if the Cromwell was not as good as the Abbotsley, how good must that one be! The hotel food and drink are all excellent value, I have some very fussy beer drinkers and they all enjoyed the beer choice and the prices paid. Sadly we will not be returning to the Abbotsley in 2014, the boys have asked to try somewhere else but, I know we will be back, because for the value for money, quailty of golf, hotel accomendation, quailty of food and friendly and helpful staff I know I will not find anywhere to beat it!

Played after some recent rain and the course was in exceptional condition. It was part of a fantastic deal including an overnight stay and a further 18 holes on the lesser Cromwell course. I play off of 19 and I can honestly say that after 40 years of golf it is the most testing course I have played. It makes the Jack Nicklaus at St.Mellion seem like a doddle! Most holes are exceptionally narrow and some have tricky carries through trees or over water. I think one would learn a lot and play it differently the second time. Nevertheless it was a pleasure to play and the whole set up and staff were excellent. The Cromwell course is frankly easier and quite boring in comparison with many holes the same with parallel fairways, but in good condition.

I played this course with my colleague after being away on business. I called on the day and booked what was a twighlight rate for us. I have to say I wasn’t expecting a great knock but was proven wrong, the course was absolutely fantastic and provided an excellent challenging round of golf at excellent value for money. Straight from the first tee off the first hole is a blind par four that you drive over a pond and the second hole a tricky par three with trees guarding the green.I didn’t know where to aim ! The rest of the course continues with a nice variety of challenging holes noticeably the last four holes with interesting doglegs and some narrow fairways and tough tee shots to think about. Overall we had an excellent round and the twighlight rate was excellent value for money.

Our Society returned to the Abbotsley course on 4/6/08 having played here 2 years ago. It's a terrific Course in peaceful surroundings - with a very friendly Clubhouse. There are some tight holes requiring accurate driving , but also some opportunities to open your shoulders up with the driver. The course has been in great condition on both occasions with terrific greens I highly recommend this course to any visitor and/or Society

A truly great course, up there with best around in Beds & Cambs, rivals John O’Gaunt-Dunstable Downs-South beds etc. The design and layout makes great use of the land and wooded areas, this also helps in keeping stray wayward hit balls from being a problem from other groups. We played (The Abbotsley) on the hottest day of the year (so far) this meant the fairways were starting to create bounce and run. That said this is not a long course, but, you really have to keep the ball in play by hitting it straight, any wayward shot off the tee is punished and likely to result in a lost ball. One player lost about 6 balls in a round; it must be very tricky in medal play! The greens were in great condition, very true and comparatively free from pitch marks, there were a few with some bare patches caused by the weather earlier this year which has effected many course around. The tees also appeared to have suffered some wear and maybe lack of water. A minor criticism, a few more signs indicating “next tee” positions would be helpful. In the clubhouse bar food was excellent, if a tad pricey, nice seating areas inside and out. Green fees offer really excellent value for money on a course of this quality.

Our society spent the weekend at the abbotsley golf club and hotel, playing both the cromwell and abbotsley. The cromwell was far too busy taking us nearly 5 hours to get round which was a shame because all in all the course was in good nick. The following day we played the abbotsley which was a fantastic course in excellent condition considering it was the last week in october. The hotel and staff where terrific, basic but terrific. we'll come back again next year but hopefully play the Abbotsley twice. The whole society had a fantastic time.

Spent two weekends here with my society in consecutive years, which shows what an excellent place this is. Really friendly and accomodating staff, good food and beer and a course which is well looked after.

We stayed at the Abbotsley Golf Hotel for 4 nights and played 7 rounds of golf on the Abbotsley course. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and the condition of the golf course. Many very interesting and beautiful golf holes, e.g. 2nd (par 3), 3rd (par 4), 6th and 7th (both par 5's), 9th (par 3), 12th (par 5), 14th (par 4), 17th (par 4). The 2nd and 9th are pretty holes guarded by water, the 3rd and 14th are short holes but demand accurate tee shots, 6th and 7th are very difficult in stiff head wind, the 12th is probably the most beautiful hole and the 17th is a nice dogleg. The hotel is surely not the fanciest one but fine considering the cheap price. The only disappointment was the food. If the hotel improves on that matter the venue will become top class.

We stayed at the Abbotsley hotel one night and played the Abbotsley course twice. The course was in excellent condition, not too hard but enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and did everything to ensure us a pleasant golf break, which we certainly had.

I Played the Abbotlsey course with a small group of friends and were made most welcome by all the staff. The course was in excellent condition with the greens being consistent and very well kept. This is a lovley course with lots of interesting holes to keep you thinking your way round. The tees can be deceptive in that you can believe you are in deep trouble only to discover that actually you are more than ok, e.g. the 3rd up the hill where the tree line on the right is wafer thin (although it doesn't look it) and a slice actually open up the green. Beware the 14th though. The course undulates more than expected and accuracy off the tee pays dividends.

I played abbotsley in september 2002, great course with and easy start into a nightmare second par three!. The course is in great nick due to ground staff, though dont expect them to stop or wait for you especially when putting or driving. as they often fly passed you with their machines. With that exception I cant wait to play again.

Stunning. The Abbotsley course is brilliant. The Cromwell course is easier but in vry good nick. Nice people, good food, great wildlife. Thoroughly recommend for a day visit or for a hotel break. I'm a regular fan of Abbotsley.

Fantastic weekend had by all of our party. We played the Cromwell course on the Saturday and the Abbotsley on the Sunday. Both were in exellent condition and a credit to the groundsmen and green keepers. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will most certainly be back. Date of visit 12th May 2002

A very enjoyable experience. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition. A stiff head wind made the 6th & 7th (both par 5's) and the 10th (230 yard par 3)very tough. Hospitality and food were top class. Look forward to visiting again.
