I visited Carmarthen Golf Club back in June 2011, and I must say I was very inprest. The greens were fast and true, and the fairways were like carpets, a vast improvement from my last visit in 2007. The course is a bit hilly but don't let that put you off, the buggy hire is very reasonable. The practice facilities are first class, and the staff were very helpfull. The food was excellent value for money, 'all in all' hard to fault any department, well worth a visit.

Day two of our tour of S.W. Wales and the sun still shone. This course is a long way out from Carmarthen and a SatNav device proved very helpful in finding it. But well worth the effort, on your way round take time to admire the wonderful views from every point on the course. This course had been closed several times over the previous weeks due to the incessant rain, and thus the green staff hadn’t been able to cut much grass and therefore the greens were quite slow. This is a mature parkland course with plenty of trees to stay away from, and some good climbs to make one thankful for an electric trolley. Unfortunately there wasn’t a course planner available, and some of the blind tee shots were undertaken more in hope of finding the fairway than belief we would, again members we met were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction. It was evident on several holes, that tee boxes had been pushed back over the years to add extra yardage, but this meant driving over greens one had just left, no problem on a quite day, but I would guess it might slow play up when the course was busy. Make your score on the front nine, and try to hang on for the final nine; we lost a few balls purely because of the long rough. After your round make sure you visit the bar upstairs in the clubhouse for some excellent value food served very quickly by friendly staff and take in those wonderful panoramic views. Well worth the effort of seeking out this course excellent value for money and quite challenging.
