Decent course but nothing special for the good golfer. There isn't a standout hole really. Greens were slow, but that's understandable in november. We won't be returning as it's just not challenging enough.

Played Chigwell last week as part of a corporate day. We were made very welcome and it is an ideal venue for the City as only 8 miles from London Bridge. Tight course, good greens but easy to 3 putt. Not long but will test all handicaps. Well worht a visit as a venue for a society or just a friendly 4 ball. Good value and easy to get to.

Mature parkland course of a very high standard with lots of variety. Superb greens (although difficult to read) particularly notable. Off course also very good with excellent catering in the clubhouse.

Played this 4/8/05 as part of a society with handicaps ranging from 6 to 28 (and beyond). Excellent venue for this type of group. Sufficient challenge for the low boys, little real rough/hard to lose a ball for the high ones. No (or very little) fairway watering so quite dry, but greens very well kept and true running. Bunkers a little compacted (the 2 I went in anyway). Tough start (long par 4 SI 5 followed by long-sh and tight par 3) but 2 of the 3 par 5s can be reached in 2. Some 'interesting' (huge but not to my taste) homes line the 9th hole. Good off-course facilities - though tough to find spike entrance. Would certainly return. Ross Simpson
