Played here on a sunny June morning with 3 others whilst on a cricket tour in South Wales. First impressions were good, friendly pro and only £20 green fee. Pro shop is tiny but has all the essentials. Only gripe is that there was no course planner, although 150 yard markers are always present. Course layout is fairly straightforward. The course itself is not overly challenging but gets really interesting on the greens. There were some pretty severe slopes and tiers on many of the putting surfaces. They were also quite speedy which made for a few heartstopping putts. Still not sure why the greenkeeper decided to cut the pins on the 7th and 8th right at the front when you are hitting up to both greens! Most memorable hole for me was the dog-leg left 5th. The approach is played completely blind over the wall of a ruined building (castle? farmhouse?). Very tricky if you don't get your angles right. Also memorable because one of my playing partners managed to put a ball straight through the window of his buggy - luckily the club were very understanding! Overall a very decent track, especially for £20. We all agree that close to London you would easily be paying £35/40 for a course of comparible quality. Locals were very friendly, including the club captain who made us feel very welcome.
