Had the pleasure of playing this course recently and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. A real tough and enjoyable course and excellent value for money. The greens where fully in play even though it was a frosty morning and with holes like the downhill 6th and the 12th it will really challenge you. A must if your playing in the area.
Very good course with a diffrent chalange on each hole, from the 12th,which is a monster to the 15th,which is a puppy. All the staff are friendly and a well stocked pro shop.If you are visiting Carmarthenshire then you must play this course
A tough but fair course. If you think you will break 100 easily - think again. The greens are excellent and the course is a true test. Mind you, when the wind blows (which is quite a lot of the time) your score becomes derailed. Enjoy and have fun. Dai
I believe renovated in the last few years after being taken over by the council - Garnant was voted 'best new course in Wales in 2003' - its not hard to see why. Every hole offers a brilliant view of the countryside, and the club house again new - is small but very friendly. The course I found to be excellent - 6,200 yards of the yellows and I would vouch plays every inch of that yardage. The greens are the main protection, along with, I imagine, the wind. It is a rarety to have a straight putt on this course, and a number of holes have quite severe breaks, so your putting must be on form. Tee to green is generally generous though anywhere off the fairway is a sidehill lie, and some parts are knee high grasses typical of links courses. The variation of holes is also really nice - short drivable par 4's - with long uphill par 4's - and par 5's of good legnth (the 3rd with a very severe green protected by a water hazard). The hardest hole is the par 5 12th - which just seems to stretch miles into the distance, I'd imagine a couple of smacks with a fairway wood will still have you a reasonably long way back - and then a undulating green to deal with. The worst part of the course is the par 3's - from the yellows they range from 151-159 yards though, they all present different challenges and from the whites they vary more in length. But it would be nice if they were a bit more varied - say one about 120- one about 190 (though they sometimes play that dependant on wind!) - condition wise though there were no complaints, and that is the main thing. Its £14 for a round off peak - in central England you'd be paying £50 and not get a course as good as this - I fully recomment a visit
