Played here in the last week in April with a small visiting party and would have no hesitation in recommending it. The course was in fantastic condition and the greens were immaculate. Easy walking and the course is challenging but fair. We paid £30 a per person for 27 holes including an excellent lunch. An absolute bargain.

Rain, rain and more rain. Even more of the stuff forecast for the coming weekend. Great! So it was with some trepidation that we turned up in the middle of a real downpour for a midweek twilight round after work. At a cost of £17.50 this is half the normal green fee but even so it could prove expensive if the course was soaked, grass uncut and greens like sponges. The first tee disproved our fears immediately, I broke my tee trying to get it into the ground! From then on, and if by magic, the clouds lifted, the sun came through and we were away. ..and what a delight. Fairways like mats, sensible rough and near perfect, quick greens. A course with character lay before us, especially the beck racing with a good head of water that meandoured (spelling I know!)along and across many of the holes. This is undoubtably a course with real quality and character. Walking off the 18th we were well satisfied. By the time the clubs were put in the car, it was throwing it down. The groundstaff even control the weather. What more can you ask for? Will return again soon - that is for certain.

Otley is a well laid out course that provides a good challenge to golfers of all levels. A number of holes leave an imprint as a real challenge on the day, but in particular holes 4 to 6 are a pleasure to play. The fourth, stroke index 1 with OB all down the right, needs two good hits to be up in two to an elevated green. The par three 5th, up hill at over 200 yards, plays at least a club longer than normal. The par 5 sixth, dog leg left played between the trees off the tee, lay up short of the water with your second or really commit to a big hit in a proper risk reward scenario, makes up a really good run of holes. The greens were in good nick, very quick and true when we played them, whilst being receptive to the iron to the green. The course is generally well manicured and a credit to the ground staff. Catering facilities were very good with ample room to move around in the restaurant seperate to the very large bar area. A friendly welcome and good service throughout the day, with a very fair green fee to boot for the quality of the course, ensured an enjoyable day for all.

Played this course on 15/9/04. It was in superb condition! The greens were true, and ran faily well, apart from a couple of the holes that were in shadow, and they were a little slow. Both the club and the pro made everyone welcome, and the lunch was excellent. Loved the par 3 5th, where you had to hit your tee shot 203yards (uphill)onto a small green. Will definately visit again!!

There are some courses you would always like to return and play - time and again! Otley is one of them. It's in a beautiful part of West Yorkshire and when our society played there (June 2003) it was in lovely condition - lush fairways, true greens, immaculate bunkers and, of course, a fine clubhouse. It's not the most difficult 18 holes you're ever likely to face. There are only two par fives - both on the front nine - but the streams can be tricky to avoid. It's only 2800 yds from the yellows on the back nine and gives some of us a chance to repair the damage done on the front nine! You might like to take this course home with you and show it to friends and opponents! David Williams Belfairs GC June 2003

This course is very easy on the eye and always a joy to play. The 3rd - 8th in particular is a lovely strech, starting with a tight tree lined par 4, then a very challenging long par 4, then comes one of the most difficult par 3's I've ever played, to hit and hold this green requires a very well executed shot. Then come 3 lovely holes with a stream meandering through. This is the highlight of the course although the back 9 is very enjoyable. It's not the hardest course in the world, but one the vast majority of golfers will enjoy. The clubhouse is welcoming with good food and beer, helpful staff and Pro, good practice area. I would never tire of playing this course. - 8/10
