At busy times at Pype Hayes such as Sundays you can expect to wait on the first tee for anything up to half an hour after your tee off time. At such times it appears that anyone can just walk in and get a game, and the so called booking system becomes meaningless. Packing in games and overcrowding the course dosen't seem to bother or interest the golf shop staff.

Played this course for the first time a week or so ago and was very impressed. Weather had left the course in less than perfect condition, but it was still enjoyable. Some teeing off from mats was annoying but generally okay and 3 or 4 excellent holes. For a high handicapper (26) it was easy enough to stay out of major trouble and keep you in the game. Having played with 3 others all below 18 handicap, it still proved a close game on stableford, and to top it off it was £12, fantastic value.

We played Pype Hayes on the saturday as we were in the area to see the Britsh Masters at the Belfry and were so impressed that we played it again the following morning. A great value for money municiple course that feels much longer than its 6000 yards and at £13.00 is half the price we would pay at the municiple in our home town Swindon. The course provided a good challenge to all of us with handicaps ranging fron 11 to 20 and we all would have no hesitation in returning to play again.

Really nice course, fantastic green real joy to put on. Front nine is where you do your best scoring, back nine you are just trying to protect your card as best as possible. It is a great risk reward course enough danger to keep you honest enough incentive to encourage you to go for your shots. Slight gripe is the lack of sand in the bunkers and the very hard starting 1st hole, with everyone watching you tee-off nervous or what!

having played at pype hayes many times over the last 30 years,I would recommend its virtues and challenges to all standards of fellow golfers. As a municipal course it can rank against any other in the country and though not harsh it will leave you saying " if only " as you walk off the 18th green and guess what..... the course will have hooked you as it has me and like the trevi fountain in rome, you will go back for more...I promise you!

Played this course today and have to say this is the best value for money municipal golf course around.Having played the Belfry Derby course a few weeks back i can honestly say this is better and you only pay £11.The greens are in excellent condition better than the Derby.Every hole has you thinking a different strategy.Only gripe is that the fairways aren't in the best condition but for the time of year its acceptable plus alot of morons dont replace their divots.Gets booked up quite quickly as well and you can see why when you play it.Can't emphasise the Value for money though, excellent.

Played here for the first time, it's a shame the first & tenth tees are still off a winter mat but apart from that it's a lovely course, greens are in excellent condition and some are not as easy as they look.Walking to the 13th tee could be hazardous as you walk back towards the tee, its best to wait under the tree. My only gripe is that I couldn't book the course until the day before because I didn't have a card.

I have just joined this club and can recommend it as a challenging but rewarding experience. I dont have a handicap yet, but the club are very welcoming....i hope to get better with practice.

A challenging municipal with plenty of woodland and coppices to trap wayward drives. An average length par 5 lined with trees to start the front nine and stroke index 1 and 2 par fours with a tree lined left to right par five all with out of bounds to start the back nine set up to destroy a few cards. The greens have proved themselves year after year, a good challenge of golf.
