Very impressed with this little gem, perhaps the best greens I have played on this year, the welcome from the members, and staff, where second to non, nothing was to much trouble, and this was apparent, when a member of the club, was to take my partner and I, through the route of the first four holes. The course itself has the most incredible views, but more importently to myself, was the lay out of this nine hole course, the condition of the fairways, and greens. Although not a long course, two loops of nine, different tees, give you a good test of your ability. As with any course its the better for knowing, playing into the greens you need to be attacking the pin from below the hole,"especially on the 7th" to give you the best chance of your birdie, only after several visits, will you be able to assertain this information. With the second loop comes the fantastic par 3, 10th, stood on the tee, with a forest of trees infront of me, and know idea what to hit to this 225 yard white, 211 yellow tee, to a down hill green, now slopeing left to right and hitting blind, what more would one want. The refreshments, and food provided from Steve & Lynn was excellent, with those views from the club house window, this was a memberable day, and one I shall be happy to repeat.
This course is described as a 'challenging hilly and windy course'. Whilst yes, the wind does get up at times due to its location, it isn't particularly hilly, especially when compared with other courses in the area. This however didn't detract from the quality of the course. The greens are very well kept, the rough deceptively short, it is more difficult than it looks, and the fairways are very well kept. Yes it is only 9 holes, most of the tees are in different positions so it does offer good variety. They are also 9 very different holes offering different challenges which is nice to see. At £23 for the green fee and half that for a junior, the cost is reasonable. Having never played here before, there were usual concerns about potential lack of signage and such, however on arrival we were given a very warm welcome and a brief overview of the course which was very much appreciated. This didn't turn out to be necessary, as the signage was brilliant. Would recommend this course as its a nice one to play, especially when the sun is out, with some cracking views down into the valley.
