10 reviews of Thorne Golf Club

Played here while visiting a friend. Played here about ten years ago, so we decided to return on a baking hot day. £14 on a Saturday so not too bad. Most of the greens need redone as there were lots of bare patches. Tee boxes generally fine as were the fairways. Course can be quite tight in places, so if you spray it around off the tee you could be in trouble. Value for money? Yes as I have played on worse down south for more money

played this course as a day out with a friend...tuesday 18th march 2008...just need to say that this course the staff and the whole days experience is great..have played this with the society i,m with..and have good packages..bacon sandwich...18 holes and pie and chips...great day out and is great value for money...yesterday the course was in really good nick...the greens especially were running really well...no temp greens or tees...which is more than i can say for some courses in the area... we are booked on again at the end of may for our society and is a worthwhile course to visit any time...when in full bloom the course plays a little more difficult...but you will enjoy it all the same...great friendly staff, always make us feel welcome.

Played the course on 24th March 2007 with our society, 33 members played. The course as mentioned on previous reviews is very tight with well placed bunkers ( found most of them ) and ditches strategically positioned. Not overly long but a different test of golf;players who hit consistently straight are usually in the prize money. Course is usually in good condition and this visit was no exception. General facilities are not the best but appropriate for the type of course. Good sized club house with breakfast and lunch included in our package. Would not hesitate to recommend

first things first! it costs a tenner midweek , not the £9.00 as advertised. this is a tidy little course and it is well looked after, the 18th is a lovely hole but in all honesty the other 17 were a touch on the bland side. A major gripe that i had was the claustrophobic feel to the course. the fairways were all a little too tight for my likes and i found myself hitting this short course with far too many 6 irons off the tee's. ballesteros made a name for himself hitting recovery shots. he wouldnt have on this course. hit a shot even slightly wayward and you're lucky if you can get a backswing at all. this course will probably suit the low cappers and the shorter hitters, i for one found it too restrictive to really enjoy the day.

Played the course at the end of Feb as one of our Society days. The course was enjoyed by all. Nice selection of holes, which require some well placed tee shots. Quite a short course but nice and tight! Some of the society even went back the following day as snow had closed most courses in the area!
