1 review of Aboyne Loch Golf Centre

I visited the centre on a mid week day and was greeted by staff working outside and immediately felt this this was going to be a good experience. Unfortunately I was wrong. The middle aged lady who greeted me seemed taken aback when I asked if there were any leaflets on the golf course and when I explained what I wanted i.e Is it 9 or 18 holes, what is the cost she immediately 'got her back up'. She then explained what was on offer and I asked if the were any golf packages. Oh no she said, we are cheap enough as it is. I explained that I did not mean price reductions but all day packages i.e. golf in morning, lunch and golf in the afternoon. No there were not, and again explained how cheap prices already are. On checking the web site there are indeed golf and golf and spa packages on offer and they look very good too. I then decided I'd try the course out before deciding on any group booking and paid the very resonable £10 fee. I had a problem with entering my credit card details on the machine provided and couldn't work out what the problem was. I was advised that I had only entered 3 digits of my security code, oh, there must have been a stuck key I thought out loud. We have never had a problem with this machine before she said. At that point I very nearly asked for my card and walk out but politeness prevailed. I'll let the reader decide on the customer service !! The course I played was the pussy course. After my round I decided that this was quite apt as it was more like a pitch and putt course with the exception of a couple of holes although being on the side of a hill it was quite strenuous even getting to the odd tee. The greens were poor with moss and bare patches on them and some signs directing from one hole to the next were missing. The last hole was very interesting. It crossed the road used to enter the centre which is not a problem if you use common sense but there were no signs advising to check before you drive. The car park was also not far from the rear of the hole which potentially could be dangerous as we have all had a wayward shot ! Would I return. No.
