A flat easy to walk course. a good mix of holes, with challenging par 5s with strategically placed bunkers and water to trap the unwary. the greens are easily reached with many allowing a pitch and run approach. The bunkers however are woeful, I only saw one that had good quality sand and the rest were a mix of concrete like mix and ground under repair, although they appear to trying to rectify this and I'd hope that over the winter the bunkers will be brought up to standard. the clubhouse and facilities are good and I must say that the course was very quiet for a Friday afternoon, which was very nice and the layout of the course with two loops coming back to the clubhouse was really nice, a good value round at a nice quiet course. recommended.
Having played the course a few times now I reckon all previous comments are spot on. The course still has a 'new' feel about it and some strategic tree planting wouldn't go amiss to give the course a little more definition in places. However, for the price, you can't go wrong. Some good holes which are particularly tricky when the wind blows. Only real criticism is that the overall quality of the bunkers are, at best, poor. The clubhouse etc and staff are very good.
played bothferry about 4 times the past 3 weeks, nice and cheap on a 241 voucher,£17 for the 2 of yer, nice easy walking course if your bad on your pins, greens have improved alot since we 1st went in april pretty fast and true, but you have too come in really high if you want them too stick, theres a ditch which runs through the course and has been used to good effect esp on the 17th and 9th,the 17th and 18th are 2 tough holes but the days we played it was pretty strong head wind, they have placed the bunkers in very good places esp off the tee,the 9th is a great hole, would recommend it, club house very freindly and the homemade chips were top notch, well worth a round at the price if your in the area
If you look on Boothferrys website they make a big deal of the fifth hole which crosses a pond that was used to gather water ballast for a barrage balloon that they built on site years ago. My friend and I were looking forward to this and were utterly dissapointed when the said pond/lake turned out to be little more than a puddle. however, this aside, boothferry is a truly excellent park land course. everything on this course is immaculately manicured, and the greens are the best we have played on this season to date. £15.00 gets you a round on a weekday and for a course of this high quality thats an absolute bargain. The one thing that is a slight ( very slight ) let down is that the entire course is as flat as a snooker table and as a result its quite difficult to get a good variety of holes. don't let this put you off though, you will enjoy the experience.
If you are looking for a good parkland course to play then boothferry is the course you're looking for.All the greens are in good condition the fairways are excellent.Altogether a value for money course. It is a shame the driving range is not in use and is standing there doing nothing and wasting away. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
