our society played Minto on wednesday 10th october and even though the course was extremely wet in places i have to say i found it a really good golf course. there are a lot of shorter holes on the course and its also quite wide and forgiving off the tee so it isnt too punishing for higher handicappers but gives lower handicappers the chance of driving greens or getting close anyway. i thought all the par 3 holes were really good and i particularly liked the section of the course around the back of the clubhouse but overall it was definately a course i wouldnt have any hesitation at all in playing again. overall 7.5 out of 10
A fantastic course set in beautiful surroundings. Despite some torrential rain over the past two days the course was holding up quite well. Very well laid out and looks as if it was ment to be there, fitting in really well with the landscape. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the nicely sized clubhouse. Served by a very friendly and helpful member of staff who went out of her way to ensure i had a nice time. Hope to return soon
We played this course on our way to Kinrosshire. It was Sunday and the course was unbelievably quite. The steward said that it's always quite during Sundays. The course is very well laid out, challenging and truly stunning, with a lot of mature trees and memorable holes. It hasn't rained for a while in this area hence the greens felt like spread with treacle.....sooooooooooooo slow. Sooooooooo slow that all four of us 3 putted in almost every green!!! We couldn't buy two putts for any amount. It will be unfair to give this course negative review if based solely on the speed of their greens. We will be back and hopefully their greens will be sleeker.
played minto 11/09/08 nice course really enjoyed it nice clubhouse who couldnt do enough for our party, very tricky greens look flat but there far from it front 9 flatish 4 were this course is back 9 very up and down some great holes up hill and downhill, alot of our party scored well here would def play again, 11th cracking hole get over the 2nd platue and you should be on the green think its about 387yrds non ov us did but we wer only couple of rolls off,all in all very enjoyable day out
My second visit here as my previous comments from 2003. Once again a great day, good food, staff were more than helpful and course was again in great condition, was going to play North Berwick area in 2006 but may again return here instead.
Played here on Wednesday 19 May 2004. Greeted by friendly staff and enjoyed a really good test of golf. Although relatively short in distance, you must think your way around the course, which was in lovely condition. The surrounding views are magnificent and there are some beautiful holes. The clubhouse is warm & friendly, the beer is good and the food is excellent & very good value. Ate my lunch overlooking the 18th on a sunny afternoon. Thought I'd died & gone to heaven. Wonderful!!
Our second course in our scottish borders trip and not to be disappointed. Lovely quite setting with holes running alongside village. Front 9 more mature than back 9. All holes very challenging and at times hilly. especially Holes 11 & 12 (I think) 11 a downhill par 4 which is easy on the legs but back up the same sort of hill to 12 which has a table top green which slops back down the hill, a hard putt and off you go to retrieve your ball again!! Very reasonably priced food and very cheap lager with friendly staff and a nice Clubhouse made our day worth while and would possibly visit again next year.
Very pleasant course with driveable par fours, set in beautiful countryside this is golf as it should be played, definately one not to be missed.
We played this course as part of a 12 course tour of the Borders. We rated it 5th best. The first nine were excellent. The second nine although hillier were less attractive and had fewer hazards. Too many holes were squeezed into too small an area resulting in some annoying criss-crossing during the second nine. The greens were superb and the fairways generous. The clubhouse and facilities were great and the food good value. We will be back.
Minto is well laid out and is of a short nature which is probably ideal for the many. The greens are nice and they have extended one or two of the holes since 1999. The staff are friendly, and although it might be one of the easier courses it is well-worth playing. We will be playing it for our tenth year in 2001.
