Stayed here as our base for a Suffolk based golf trip and for that purpose it was ideal. The course however was a pretty bland affair and not really suited to our party of knowlwdgeable players. A bit tight in parts, shot options were limited. All a bit focused on water and sand, you'd have to call it target golf more than anything else. Still, as a base at least, well worth it. In future though I think I'd try to trade a round here with a round at a better course.

Ufford Park is a real hidden gem in Suffolk, would recommend a game of golf here to golfers of all standards. We were very impressed with the facilities, the welcome from the staff and the condition of the golf course. Even the pace of play (which can be a bit of a bugbear for me) was excellent with our 4-ball getting round in under 4 hours. Prices for food and drink were as expected with the Soup d'jour gaining plaudits amongst our group given the wintry day we played on!

Visited for a long weekend society do recently and played four rounds in four days. Off course very good, big store, range and everything you would expect. Very nice. On course, a bit of a mixed bag in truth. The bad things were that we played it after a run of hot weather and found the greens very hard and difficult to play straight into. The long rough was really long, and we lost many balls only a yard or two off the fairway. Also, the layout is a bit strange here and there, and there is a lot of walking from green to next tee. The 2nd green, and 3rd, 9th and 17th tees are all within 30 yards of each other. Ineveitably play was slow (quickest 4h 15m, slowest 5h 25m). Having said that, it has some excellent holes, the par 3's particularly. Some of the short par 4's look birdie chances on paper but have enough trouble to make it hard to take advantage. Dont think you can stratch out a score, if you score well you have really played well. We've already booked to play again next year so its positives must be more than the negatives. Looking forward to tangling with it again, and hope fully playing a lot better than this year!

First impresssions were great. This was a golf course, seemingly in the middle of beyond, that had an excellent infrastructure. The accompanying hotel was good, but the extensive American Golf Discount shop and clubhouse, coupled with the modern well-equipped golf range was impressive. The practise putting green was massive and it even had a stimpmeter reading for the courses greens for the day on the board! (The greens were true although a little slow for my liking). The course (off yellows) was relatively short, however this added to its charm rather than taking anything away from it. The tee, fairways and greens were in good condition and true. Unlike other contributors, we played this in fantastic conditions and found the course to be tricky rather than a long driver's paradise. Many of the holes required placement as opposed to hitting it as far as possible. With the rough being quite prohibitive, this was an excellent test. If I was to be critical, I did find patches of clover on the fairways and the bunkers variable, however this could not overshadow the courses good points. At £35 for a weekend round, this was good value and is thoroughly recommmended. The staff were unassuming and polite and did an excellent job to help four new people find their way around the club.

Like the previous 2 entries, played in October 2005 in the rain albeit it stopped after about 8 holes. Interesting layout, scored better on the back 9. I have to say the course looked a bit tired, but being a hotel course and on the Europro circuit recently it appears to be played for that reason by visitors. Well wortha visit, used a 2 4 1, good value, especially liked the 15th, 243 yards of the yellows, nice green back to front slope just behind water and a risk and reward hole. Had I been straight would have driven the hole but still gained a par from the fringe. Looking forward to returning in the spring time I would think with all the vegetation about May would be ideal. Greens were a bit rough in places but we had just experienced a bad downpoor the night before, people still not repairing pitch marks on the greens.

Played the course early in feb, just after some terrible wet weather the course was in fantastic condition for this time of year. Some interesting holes with many water hazards.very helpful in the proshop,no problems with tee times and slow play.

Played this course at the last minute because most of the other courses we tried were either waterlogged or closed altogether because of the heavy rain earlier in the week. Fantastic condition for the time of year (early March), although the greens were a bit 'bobbly'. Very interesting layout and the fairways were almost dry !!! Water hazards on 11 of the holes. Quite challenging, well worth a visit. Hotel has very good facilities too. Highly recommended. Martin. (Handicap 16)
