Fantastic Course really looks well, greens was fast and very true. improved 110% over the years
This is my local coarse and i know it well, played sunday and have to report the poor condition it is in. Two temp greens were on and i mean temp as (circles cut from fairway with a hole!)most of the greens had been spiked /hollow tined but not filled made putting a joke. Payed £8.50 for 9 holes a little steep for time of year/condition,will not return unless things improve.
Played many times over the past twelve months, Warley Woods is a great course for learning the game. Never too busy, always in reasonable condition, and always a different challenge. Favourite holes include the 3rd and the 7th, most challenging are the 6th and the 8th. 6th has a wicked right to left slope that messes with your mind off the tee, whilst the 8th is just a seemingly endless slog up a hill whilst trying to keep to single figures. Great quality and value for money.
Very nice course, well kept greens and friendly staff - note though they don't take any form of card payment, cash only.
Very good condition bearing in mind the hot conditions over the last month. This is a very forgiving course with wide fairways allowing for the odd wayward tee shot! There are some very nice holes, most notably the 4th, 7th and 9th. The 7th is 330 odd yards downhill and can be reached in one, as can the 340 yard 9th. Well worth a visit and a snip at £7.20 for 9 holes!
This is a nice small cousre for people who have just taken up the game. Nothing to tricky but that not to say i go round anywhere near par!!! You can pretty much go as far left or right on most holes and your pretty sure of finding your ball in a playable spot!!!
After having quite alot of rain i expected the course to be waterlogged, i called the office and they said the course was 'holding out just fine' so i turned up for my first visit to Warley woods and was pleasantly surprised that not only was the course holding out just fine but it was in great condition for late October with all the rain it had recieved. The fairways were being mown when i arrived and the greens were in great condition, i thoroughly enjoyed my 9 holes and will be returning again very soon, this is a great course with 2 challenging holes, notably the 6th and 8th which are both uphill and play long, all tees were very well posted and all green flags were present (with a flag not just a pole) highly recommended to golfers of all abilities.
This is a fun course to play, without being overly challenging. Although the fairways are wide, steep undulations from left to right going out and right to left coming back, mean accurate driving is important. The 1st is a long uphill drive, trying to avoid a large oak tree to the right of the fairway. heavy rough dominates the left hand side. A short iron should see you onto the green, which is well protected by bunkers to front right and back left. The very short par 3 second needs little more than an 8 off the tee, although the green slopes away from the tee and is surrounded by bunkers, and very thick rough around the sides...lots of height and accuracy and you should be fine for a 3. The 3rd is a pleasnt tree lined holed, with a tricky left to right slope. The green here is very quick and is surrounded by a deep ditch to the left hand side and rear so anything fast onto the green will rapidly disappear. The short downhill 4th is a fun hole with a wickedly sloping raised green surrounded by bunkers left and right. Once again a short iron should see you right. The uphill 5th is well protected by trees and a tricky bunker front left of green with a mid size bunker about 40 yards before the green on the right. The long par 4 6th is a real challenge. There is a severe right to left slope on the fairway and anything short of a length will run 60-70 yards right to left into thick rough. A big 1 wood should leave an decent approach to a green surrounded by cavernous bunkers. Great fun! The 7th is a joy to play. Downhill all the way, two big bunkers to the front left of the green and one to the right. Easily reached with a 3 wood, but beware of the undulating green. The long uphill 8th is a killer. A decent drive will still leave an uphill iron shot over 5 huge bunkers, which are some 70 yards in front of the wickedly undulating green. A blind iron shot over the bunker to the green is a challenge at any time. A large green is dominated by an uphill left to right slope, and needs gentle touches to avoid dropping 15 yards. The downhill 9th is quite straight forward, but beware one of the most cunningly undulating greens on the course, and a huge bunker front left. A fun course, ideal to learn on, but not one that will overly challenge a low handicapper.
Quite an easy course where it is possible to drive the green on some of the par 4's. For a municipal the greens are in good condition and the course generally plays very well. The best hole is the 8th which can be quite a test at times! This is the course where I started playing golf and still play regularly. I particularly enjoy playing on summer evenings when you can squeeze 9 in after work!
