Much improved tees and fairways whereas the greens have always been of a high standard throughout the year. Friendly in the proshop and good value on Tues and Thursdays. Enjoyable and will be better once the 8th gets it's final overhaul (been a temporary par three for a while).

A better course than the approach to the club would suggest. The clubhouse itself isn't the prettiest, though the interior decor is better. On the course, some of the fairways could do with improving, but it's not easy to play as it's so open and the wind is a big factor.Greens and tees are ok, and the rough is pretty brutal in places. To summarise, not too bad at all,Certainly worth at least one round.

The Bedford is the best in the region. We loved it the course is fantastic condition. The bunkers were full of fresh sand and the greens are the best for miles, all staff were very helpfull. The head Greenkeeper Gary Carter and his team must be the best around.

Have just played the Bedford Golf Club. To pete, the bunkers seemed to have recently been improved and as such were in excellent condition. The whole course was in fantastic condition and is by far the best in the area, especially at this time of year. The course is great for all types of golfers, no need to be long off the tee, but there are some tricky holes, especially the 2 par fours flanked by water from start to finish. The warm-up facilities were great and the staff both in the shop and in the bar were very helpful and welcoming. I was kindly paired with a member of the club who was more than happy to accompany me. The whole club had a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, which was a far cry from some of the snotty and stuck-up clubs I have encountered within the area. Great value for money, well worth a game. Played the course when very windy quite a challenge as it is very open, tees & greens are in excellent condition, greens are very fast & true, clubhouse & locker room ok & staff very helpful & friendly. Spoke to a few members before teeing off who warned me about the bunkers, how right they were full of stones & pebbles took a chunk out off my sandiron, such a shame a well maintained course spoilled by the bunkers, all in all value for money, except the BUNKERS. 16 MAY 2006 Peter, England.

My wife and i played the bedford today and despite the thunder showers had a very enjoyable day and the staff in the pro shop and bar were very friendly and helpful and a credit to the club.the course was in good condition considering the long dry spell and the greens were excellent. the course is more about right position off the tee rather than length so would recommend this course to any player off any handicap.our only suggestion would be some signs as to next tee on some holes 7th for example.

I played The Bedford today. What a joy! (despite a brief blizzard). The course is well designed, tees and greens are excellent and I WILL be going back. Clubhouse is adequate despite small locker room. The staff in the Pro-Shop and in the Clubhouse were very courteous and helpful, a credit to the club. Play it and enjoy!!!!!!!!!

I have played The Bedford a number of times in the last 06 months and would report that it has been a enjoyable experience. The staff have always been extremely helpfull and freindly. The course can best be described as an inland links with a number of lakes. The tees are exceptionally good and would grace any major tournament venue , the greens as slopey and very fast and of good quality. Off the back tees the course is a good test - the last 06 holes can play particully tough. You could not describe the course a pretty( a number of pylons & many large but boring houses surround some holes) but if the course is purely judged on playability its well worth a game . This course is on the 02 fore 1 deal and is worth playing on that basis but a little expensive at full price £40 @ weekends

I agree with David, I played the course today to take advantage of a rare sunny day at the end of October. I turned up on my own and although it was ladies morning (all the groups had gone of the first) the staff in the pro shop were very helpful, they suggested starting at the 10th to stay in front of the ladies 3 balls. As I came to play the front 9 I met a member on the 1st tee who was more than happy to play the front 9 with me and helped me with getting round the course and flag positions. The only disappointing aspect was the condition of some of the greens, players haven't been repairing their pitchmarks. The member I played with told me it was an area that the club was trying to improve, although it was difficult when players (some members included) don't repair their pitchmarks. Apart from some of the greens, the course was in top condition with some very tricky pin positions.

I played The Bedford in 2002 and find it hard to comprehend the previous comments left by Carl. The course to me personifies an inland links, and is one of the best courses I have played in the southern region, even though it is still very young in terms of age. The staff were more than helpful and in particular Clare in the bar was a refreshing change to the snottiness and dinosaur attitudes of other establishments. The tees, approaches and greens were in immaculate condition, with little or no problems on the heaviest of rainy days I have ever encountered. All in all a most enjoyable day, I recommend it to anyone.

Good greens and fairways, but trees very immature. Green fees published on this site and by the courses own web site are incorrect. Staff some what unfriendly to non-members both in the pro shop and bar. An interesting course that would be better to play in five years time when its matured. I would suggest investigating other courses courses in the area before playing The Bedford Golf Club
