5 reviews of Doncaster Golf Club

Played the course recently and was extremely impressed. Everything was absolutely immaculate. A nice variety of holes and a reasonable challenge. Only gripe was that the greens, although in superb condition, were quite slow.

Played here today 19/02/2009 as a warm up round for a competion this coming Sunday with VGS. Arrived at course to see impressive clubhouse, facilities A1, warm welcome in shop, Golf cost £16 (winter rates). This course is top quality, very bad weather recently including snow for 2 weeks yet the course was in superb dry condition, good under foot. Greens took a ball well and ran true, exactly where you hit em !!! Progressed our way around the course with ease despite the club not offering stroke savers however on ever hole there are 200, 150 and 100 markers in fairway, coloured pins in operation on greens so ample chance to hit the shot right. A little bit of work been performed on the course by greenstaff which showed a commitment to improve the course. They were working on a bunker on the 5th hole which looked like a work of art, taking real care with detail. Members are friendly as are all the staff at the club, great views from clubhouse balcony over 1st tee and 18th green....Plenty of chance to see fellow players and maybe have a little banter. We arrived at the 15th hole and I was a little sad our round would be over in 4 holes, looking forward to our competition on Sunday. I want to play this course again. If you see any of my comments above as negatives, THEN DON'T this course is well worth playing. Compared to other Doncaster courses, in fact national courses i would definetly recommend a game here. If you don't enjoy the whole experience then i would be suprised.

We played Doncaster over Christmas week with our society and was very impressed both with the welcome and standard of the course. Firstly we we lucky to get on over the Christmas week and for £20 green fees was a bargain. The course was in excellent condition considering the time of year, the course is a little short however I don't know how you would consider it boring, the par 3 11th on an elevated tee was superb and I thought although not the hardest of courses was a good test of golf, all our members thoroughly enjoyed the day, I don't think there was one critism and would go back no problem.

Possibly the least entertaining course I've played in ages. Very boring course. Very short (only 1 par 5!!). No features or obstacles to make the fairways interesting. Not worth either the high green fees, or the hassle to actually get a game. There are much better courses within 10 miles of this course.

Great course and one of the best you will ever play.Greens are always in great condition. The course its self is not to long with the one par 5 only but you have to think your way around it to play well.Great course recommended to anyone.
