Enjoyed my game around L'Odet. I found it a friendly club but would not rate it very highly in terms of either course management or difficulty. Certainly a course which high handicappers will enjoy as fairways are wide. Greens are so so with a number badly damaged. Good clubhouse. Would I go back? - probably not.
I was not impressed to find that whilst getting ready to tee off that another player had been given the same tee off time. Neither he nor I had been pre informed of this. As he wanted to play on his own I agreed that he should play off first with me to follow. The players behind objected and the pro finally got involved and made us play together. This arrangement lasted until half way down the first hole when he decided to wait and play with a couple playing behind. So far, so French. I was struck by the fact that the course was either built round a housing estate or that the estate had been interjected at some later date. In the event the local rules stated that it was forbidden to search for lost balls in the properties in and around the houses on the course. Seems reasonable to me! The greens probably rated 3/4 out of 10 and the fairways were indifferent. Not great value for 50 euros. To round off, after playing the first 9 holes I found that a foursome had been interposed at the 10th hole adding further to the delays and frustration. An OK course if you can't find anything better but I am disinclined to apply for membership.
A good golf course for all standards of players, tricky greens, well kept fairways. A very friendly club where English is spoken (for those whose French is not good!!)
Odet, in my opinion, is the best course in Brittany. Excellent course lay out, a back nine to die for, immaculate greens. All set in beautiful countryside.
possibly the worst course ive played in france.
