Lovely course. We played it in the wind and this made it far, far harder than the yardage indicates. It misses a half way house and a driving range to warm up on but apart from this its great. The par 3 third is one of the best i've played. Good variety of holes with natural landscape to add to the course.

Hi the first time i played at this course was a brillant sunny summers day and ever since then when im in the area i cant help my-self by going to play at this super course. I am seriously considering joining at this club as it is a great course all year round. If you think its short off the yellow tees then try the white tees, its a completly different course and becomes a bigger challange with a few holes where you need atleast a 200yard carry just to make the fairway. It didnt feal a par 69 to me walking down the last after a round playing off the whites it felt like a 70. The course has a wide range of challenging holes all with different skills needed as the 8th comes into mind. A fantastic hole but can become a nightmare if you dont find the fairway from the tee to the right which is the side of the fairway you want to be if you want to attack the hole and go for a birdie. This makes it in my opinion the hardest hole on the course and is a good hole to play with the tricky par 3 9th after followed by the 10th with a long carry needed of the white tees to make the fairway. 14 to 18 (know as "the park" to members) is a superb way to close a round with breath taking views from the 17th green and 18th tee. Also the greens are the best in the area by far and I wouldnt be surprised if the club finds it hard not to loss their greenkeepers to a club like Wentworth as the course there is kept in superb condition all year round with the greens like lightning. If you want the biggest challenge possible from the course then try playing on a windy day. Recommend this course to all the poeple you know who play golf as this is a course fit for the Gods. Thanks from Sam Spencer

This course really does come in the hidden gem category. This is my first opportunity to play Newbury & Crookham and it certainly won't be my last. The course is not long - only 5739 off the yellows or 5961 from the whites; and a tight par of 69 (33/36). There are a few holes where it is useful to get a decent long ball away, but mainly the key to this course is accuracy. There are 5 par 3's and 3 of them are superb, the others are good as well. There are so many good holes on this course and in the main they will reward sensible, accurate play. If you're driving well here you could probably get a good score, but you do have to contend with very slick greens which are an absolute pleasure to play on and a credit to the green staff. It's just so difficult to stop the ball on them, and some of them are very sloping. I didn't think that I could 3 putt on number 5 (SI2) with a birdie beconning from merely 5 feet above the hole - what a slope! If you are in the area, go and play this course as I guarantee that you will enjoy it.

What a lovely course! Not the longest, but makes up for the lack of length with some testing, narrow, tree lined tee shots, and superb quick greens. In such great condition for this time of year, look forward to returning in summer.

Played the course on a society day. Food and atmosphere in bar absolutely first class. Changing area spacious and spotless. THE COURSE looks inviting on the score card, but a combination of well positioned trees, bunkers, ponds and bushes plus greens which are very mature and pretty hard to read make it not so easy on the way around! Best descibed as a thinking and concentrating course, everyone had a great day at an excellent course
