This course has more variety in the layout than other municipal courses in the Leicestershire area, and because of this and the overall standard of the course is well priced. The first 5 holes need to be played well if a good score is to be achieved as holes 6-8, and 12-14 are all genuine birdie holes if played correctly. The 4th is the toughest, measuring way over 400 yards, a right dogleg with the length of the tee shot needing to be to be 250 yards minimum and straight, otherwises your second shot will require you to lay up. My favourite hole is the 13th. A driveable par 4 at 280 yards, I've putted for eagle before, though if you find the pond front-left of the green a par is the best you can hope for.

Played Western yesterday, dry but cold, overcast day. Greens are good for this time of the year and overall the course is playing to it's merit. Western park is not strictly a beginners course - some of the holes being quite long for someone new to the game. However, the fairways are generous, and if you hit a ball offline, you can normally find it. Clubhouse facilities are good and the pro shop is well stocked. All in all - a good course with a friendly atmosphere.

Westen park golf club has over the years slipped in quality and presentation. This used to be one of the hardest muni's to get a tee time for. On my last visit (bank holiday sunday) We turned up without booking and played the course only seeing two or three other groups ,testament to the drop in quality and popularity. The design of the course is good however and if you can forgive the rough greens and bunkers full of mud and stones then you will be in for a treat. The staff are not some of the most welcoming and i got he impression that we were being a pest to them rather than customers, the members made up for this being very friendly. Watch out for dog walkers and youths hanging round on some holes waiting to steal your ball only to sell them to the next group along. the club house and changing rooms are ok and offer a good choice of food and drink so not all a loss. An ok course for the money but there are better muni's for the same price. Worth a play once at least.

A good course with some challenging 1st nine an some less challenging 2nd nine holes' but i suppose thats to give you a chance if u have a poor front 9. some of the bunkers are quiet poo' but nearly all greens are mint. Overall an enjoyable and exciting course for both amatuers and the better. Also the value for the money is well worth it expecially for juniors' i would defernitly reccomend this course.

A testing start with some tough longish par 4's at the start of the front nine..try and keep your card intact here as the back nine offers plenty of par/scoring opportunities Played twice of late and though not a terribly difficult course it is for me and attractive parkland course that i will be coming back to over time. £12 a round is great value for a london based player who pays around 20 pound for pay and play courses that are not so attractive or well maintained. Good place to learn to play or for high handicappers looking to get some confidence lowering scores..single digit handicappers should nut this course.. Played all three local council run courses and this for me is the best of good bunch A pleasant pay and play course that I would heartily recommended

Overall I think it is quite a good golf course, especially for beginners, as I only started playing golf properly and it has helped me get my score down to 103, which would be unlikely on tougher, private golf courses. Shot my 1st birdie last Sunday on the Par 3 17th which was quite pleasing and I've probably parred 12 out of the 18 holes before, not all in one round though! The only downside on this course for me is the greens, as there are quite a lot of divets in them, mainly caused by local kids who sneak onto it on the 4th and 13th. Also watch out for them on certain holes, especially the 13th where they find it amusing to rob your golf balls

This is a workmanlike Municiple course which gives great value. It is not as pretty, smooth and sophisticated as the private courses but offers some good challenges, particularly to beginners and high handicappers. All in all a friendly course.

Has a great offer for Children under 16. Free in the summer between 12 midday and 2pm. Anyway, the course has some good long holes for the good golfer, some smaller ones which are OK for younger players. Some great scenery with it's trees, hills and other features. Altogether a good course for all players.
