Strathaven was the first venue on our 2010 annual MAGI golf tour to Scotland from Matlock GC, now in our eighth year. As the ex-pat Scottish organiser I always worry that my selection - based on golfing memories 25+ years old - may prove faulty. However Strathaven did not let me down. Given the winter we have all had the course was in superb condition with fast and true greens. It was busy, but didn't feel that way as most fairways are tree lined making you think you have the place to yourselves. It's a challenging course and our best Stableford score was only in the low 30s. The clubhouse is excellent too. I'd recommend a visit to anyone. Tip: look carefully at the course maps or buy a course guide - there are hazards all over the place.

Played 36 holes over the course earlier today and was very impressed with both the layout and condition. The greens are some of the finest and fastest I've played this year, extremely true. This course will be a good test of all standards of golfer. Tough enough to challenge the low handicappers and fair enough to allow the higher handicappers an enjoyable day. I'll be back next year with a group from the club as an outing. To top it off the food and service was excellent, give it a go, it's a wee gem!!

Played just the other day, and despite the deluge of wet weather we have been having all in all the course was in excellent condition. Fairways and greens are a credit to the greenkeepers and put a lot of other courses to shame. The course itself is a true test of golf, and highly recommended to anyone wishing an enjopyable day out

This is a superb golf course I would rate it one of the best 3 courses in Lanarkshire, only marginally surpassed by Lanark Golf Course. A parkland course which is a very good test of golf for players of all abilities. The course is always well presented.
