This course was previously called Deaconsbank and I have been playing there since 1980. Back then it was a terribly "maintained" publicly run course. There has been a certain amount of investment over the years and it shows. This course, although still in need of a little more TLC, has improved beyond belief. It was pretty dire, but now it is a joy to play. There was a clubhouse and proper facilities but a few years ago it was vandalised, burnt out. I agree with the previous review that a little more investment to provide proper facilities once again would be most welcome by everyone who plays here, not sure about doubling the green fees, though, that's a pretty expensive cold drink!!
played here 2day loveely wee course enjoyable and difficuilt course well worth the money qute a few suprises on the curse but would recommend anyone to play here
year on year for the past five years the course keeps getting better one of the hardest short corse you will ever play considering the amount of play the course gets it is a credit to the greenstaff for the condition it is in. the off course facilities are diabolical.
Played this yesterday in blustery conditions, very impressed with course. On the whole a very enjoyable round with a lot of memorable holes. I'll definitely play the course again, but preferably when it's been dry for a while. If playing soon note that the 12th hole has been re-located (I'm assuming temporarily) for drainage reasons, there is a temporary tee pointing over scrub in the general direction of a small green, which is in front of the next hole's tee on the fairway (confused me at the time). One of the best municipal courses I've played in Glasgow.
Used the driving range for the first time yesterday, not bad for £4 for 100 balls. Course looked quite good as well as only previous course played on was Linn Park so anywhere would be an improvement but i am quite looking forward to my first round and as said previously charges seem reasonable.
played the course today and although the weather was fine, recent rain has left the course full of water, some holes on the back nine have been shortened as parts of the holes are unplayable. The greens are pretty poor but to their credit the lads are out tying to dry the course out. we had fun non the less. Its cheap so dont expect too much
Course is now in much better condition than that previously alluded to. Extensive work has been carried out to improve the drainage side and the course is also under new management. Given the number of private courses in the area and the exorbiant green fees they charge it is pleasing to find a reasonable course available for at a realistic fee (£10 on my last visit.)
Not good. The greens are like fairways. The fairways are like rough. The rough is like the jungle. And if it rains it's like Mozambique in flood. Very hilly and some good panoramic views of Glasgow, but no really interesting holes. Driving range is dreadful as well - the balls are so bad, you'd be better off taking a bag of spuds.
